New Roof Vent Cover(s)
Looking to install new roof vent covers on the AS. Decisions, decision, decisions... Which one did you install, MaxxAir or Fan-Tastic (or any other brand), and any particular reason you liked one over the other. Smoke, white or black and why? Any good or bad experience that could/would change your mind to purchase again or replace.

Because they match the streamlined look of our Airstream, we installed a MaxxAir II vent in front for best air flow and a standard MaxxAir in back to fit between our factory solar panels. Gray-silver color looks good on the Airstream and darkens the morning overhead sunlight for sleeping in morning. The vent lids could open slightly higher without them, but makes no difference in air flow.
Great addition to the Airstream, allows ventilation even when raining or going down the road, no worry about vents open when leaving the trailer, prevents sun damage to Fantastic Fan light weight vent lids, no bright spot in the ceiling to make us in early morning.

I installed the standard size MaxAir vent cover as recommended by our AS dealer. Airflow was greatly reduced. I plan to upgrade to MaxAir II or Fantastic in the future.

I didn't like the Max Air so I replaced mine with Fan-Tastic's in smoke. Smoke lets in light, which we like in our Airstream. And the fans already had smoke lids. Also, IMO the smoke covers look leaner than the white covers on Airstreams. I see white and they almost always look dingy after awhile.

We selected white MaxcAir covers for our new 23 FB without considering other colors/options. These have served us very well, allowing more light in (we are early risers) and bentilation while driving. We do close them if we anticipate dusty highway conditions due to terrain, construction, weather, etc.

So do the MaxxAirII vent lids not let the Fantastic fan open up all the way?

Yes, but it's not an issue. The vent opening motor stops when resistance is encountered from the cover hitting the top.

Selection Made
Thanks everyone for the input. Selected 2 MaxxAir II (smoke) vent covers. I think they will complement the overall aerodynamics of the AS and since our new 28 foot FC has dual Fantastic fans, I don't feel that not opening 100% will be a problem. Again, thanks for your invaluable comments.
