I drove through Madrid, NM the day after you with my new 1969 Safari. Those pictures looked familiar. I live in Taos, NM and was driving back from Tijeras, NM... NM 14N sure is pretty.

I always miss the ABQ ballon rally but we have our smaller one here in Taos this weekend. I don't expect to see Darth Vadar here in Taos but that was cool. I had seen it on the news (with Steve Stucker of course).

Thank you for the great pictures of your adventure. I enjoyed it all . Iwould love to take a trip like that. Not possible at this time. I love the red, white and blue stripe on your MH. Mine has the old woodgrain and black. The woodgrain has peeled off and I have been looking for a replacement tape. Where did you find the right size and type. Is it all one piece or did you use 3 pieces. I also admired your spare tire cover decal. Mine has the original airstream decal. Now I am going to talk to the local sign shop and replace the old worn airstream decal. I have an 83 300 turbo deisel MH. I want to spiffy it up and just haven't known what I wanted to do to make her look like the proud lady that she is.

Thanks again for sharing you pictures

Kay

Wink

We should have coordinated schedules! We left NM a week ago and went to Al to see my parents! We went through Roswell and were abducted so we didnt make it to Carlsbad: We have an 86 345 and are in NY almost back home to NH. I grew up in Al and believe all the cotton is in Tx now!

Klattu, thanks for the pix. I love New Mexico, my son was stationed at Holliman AFB (F-117 Crew Chief) Did you get to White Sands, another place of wonderment. Beautiful MH, and equiped with the rare river crossing option. LJH 6196

carnegie1935...
Ours had the woodgrain too...and the tire cover was probably just like yours.
Wood was pealing and looked rough, plus to me, does not match the aluminum Airstream theam.
The tire cover is a great place to put up a design that can be just about anything.
Stripes are 2" reflective tape, and yes each color is separate from each other.
Galls.com has some.
Tire cover wings are reflective tape too.

Of course NASA was the source of stripe theam...
And my Suburban needed something in the yard to match

Bugs...
I think we are on oposite side of the mirror.
We were headed for Roswell,
A bright light forced us to head east. (low fuel)

Gunnyusmc...
I saw just in time to grab camera and snap one off.
Did not stop.
Was a nice looking setup they have.
Fuel was very low $$ around there too.
