So sorry for your loss - and trust you will find that your reflections will include lots of warm and comforting memories and a treasuring of the many deep blessings that grow from renewing relationships with family and friends during a difficult time.

Those of us who hang around the Forum for a long time get to know each other pretty well, so when someone suffers a loss, we feel it too, just as if we were old friends who went to school together or were neighbors. Seems like there's a been more loss than I remember on the Forum in the last year, but that happens in my other life too.

Being on the road and having lousy wifi, I just caught up on your thread. I expect a service has happened by now and you are going through grieving. Grief follows its own course and you will do better when time passes. Take care SuEllyn and Brian.

Hi Gene. Thank you for your kind words and concern. Suellyn's Dad was laid to rest yesterday with Military Honors. He had been at Omaha Beach on D-day and had gone all the way to Germany with the 744th Tank Battalion.

SuEllyn's Dad would have been 98 in October, and up until the last few months, he had been living at home and and driving his 1994 Cadillac. He had a long and healthy life, and had his wits about him until the very end. We should all be as fortunate as Buck Attaway.

Even though we will miss him greatly, his time had come. We take solace in the fact that he has gone on to be with SuEllyn's Mom, the love of his life.

Brian

He had lived a good, long life, and Doug would say that life didn't owe him anything.

Doug's mother is 97 1/2, and just went into assisted living last November.

Hope life settles down some for you, and you can get back to traveling.

Be well,

Maggie

An Omaha Beach vet? We just visited the WWII museum in New Orleans earlier this year and I am even more in awe of this group of heroes. Very sorry for your family's loss and very thankful for the sacrifice made on that beach that literally saved the world.
