Need Help in Hew Hampshire

Hey all,

I'm planning to spend 2 weeks in the Hampton/Hampton Beach area starting May 15th and I would love to take my Argosy 20 on it's maiden trip. I see that the state park is not open yet though (and it's $45 a night!). Can any one familiar with that area help me please?

Since I've never camped in the trailer I'm only guessing that water and electricity alone would be sufficient. I could probably travel up to 25 minutes from Hampton.

Thanks!!!

Steve

New Hampshire

New Hampshire has a fairly active campground association. They are on the web. You can find their website here; http://www.ucampnh.com

I have stayed at the Hampton Beach State park for several years. In order to get in, you have to submit an application no earlier that 12/25 for a lottery. We are fortunate to get a site this year for the end of July. This is probably one of the nicest campgrounds on the ocean in the Northeast.

Don't be discouraged, New Hampshire is a very pretty place and we have no sales tax.

I believe there is a nice campground close to the ocean in Seabrook.

Good Luck

Try Salisbury Beach State Reservation

Try Salisbury Beach, it's just down the road from Hampton Beach:

Open from Apr 15, 2005 to Nov 28, 2005

Season Begins Ends Family Stan Elec+water Hook-Up Family Standard W Water Family Tent W Water

Non Peak Season Apr 15 May 29 $17.00 $14.00 $10.00
Peak Season May 30 Sep 05 $17.00 $14.00 $10.00
Walk-In Only Season Sep 06 Nov 28 $15.00 $8.00 $8.00

Salisbury Beach will be upgrading their electrical hookups and will not be accepting reservations for the period of April 15, 2005 through May 20, 2005. First come, first serve sites will be available during that period.

Salisbury Beach is one of the state's most popular ocean beaches stretching for 3.8 miles along the Atlantic Ocean. This 521-acre park offers swimming, boating, fishing and camping. The campground offers 481 sites with water and electric , and newly renovated bathhouses. On the beach, three new comfort stations, over-the-dune boardwalks, and a new playground and pavilion area make this a popular ocean destination. The Reservation also has two boat ramps that are located on the Merrimack River at the campground's southern edge.

If you happen to be there over Memorial Day Weekend you will see a group of us from the WBCCI New England Unit as we are holding our "Seaside Rally" there.

Bring a wet suit if you plan on going in the water

The ocean water doesn't warm up around here until sometime in July and even then it isn't warm, it just takes a few minutes longer for you to freeze to death.

Hey sfixx,

It's not to late to sign up and join the "Seaside Rally". We signed up to join the New England Unit on the internet at RESERVE AMERICA. We are two rows away from the rally, but we will be joining them in all the activites. Our site is X41. I just checked the campsites out and in row Z sites 9, 11, 13 are available for tt up to 25'. We are all spending 3 nights there. The cost for us was $60.50 for the reservation. There are 23 tt signed up tor the event at this time.

Come join us, the more the merrier. Any questions PM me. Hope to see you there. This is a great group of fun loving people.

Thanks for all the help

It appears too late for me to stay from the 16th-27th in row Z. I like the looks of Salisbury though, and the park in Hampton Falls seems good too. I'll search more tomorrow.

Thanks again,

Steve

No kidding Tim! I have everything that I need to finish the bunks and dinette so I just need to get out there and do it. My weekends haven't been real productive lately though. It's finally warming up a bit here so I can start to work in the evenings too. I'm mostly worried about the fact that I've never tested the water system but warm weather will allow that soon too. And I haven't a clue about the dreaded black water system either.

You may start to see some progress on the resto-blog real soon here...

A blog is slang for a "web log". An online diary of sorts.

I might take you up on that kind offer since I'll be kinda bored in the evenings and will probably plan to keep some trailer projects going while on the road.

Thanks!

Hey Steve,

I checked on line and there are sites in row W & Z available from May 21th-June 5th. I could not find any sites before the 21st. If you can change your vacation dates, you can join all of us for a great outting.

Hi Gail,

Thanks, that's an idea but I'm not going to be on "vacation". I will be at a 2 week Windsor chairmaking seminar at Michael Dunbar's Windsor Institute in Hampton. I suppose it's sort a working vacation, though I wish my family could come along. I could certainly visit the rally though. Are there Airstream tours scheduled?

Of course it wouldn't be impossible to move my trailer mid stay

I'm sure!

Most of the folks in our unit are thrilled to give tours of their Airstreams. I know I love to see the work other folks have done as it gives me great ideas for upgrades for my camper (much to my husband's displeasure as he gets many things added to his "Honey Do" list).

Steve

Here is the itinerary for the 27th-30th weekend.
http://www.wbcci1.org/ne/Seaside_200502.pdf

Like I said, I can't speak highly enough of this wonderful group of AS folks. Once you meet everyone, you'll want to come to Quebec with everyone August 25th-28th. The best part is the potluck meals. Many wonderful chefs
