National Park Pass

Not sure if this is the right place to post this.
Seniors get your passes before the end of August. Lifetime is $10 and goes up to $80.

Sounds reasonable to me. I have a $10 pass but will buy an $80 one. Still the best bargain on wheels. Free admission and half-price campsites? Should be more than $10.

Hi

Right now the Canadian parks are ... free. Not forever and not part of a senior pass. Not everything and anything. Still worth thinking about before the end of the year.

Just left Waterton Lakes National Park this morning after three nights. If you like to view/photograph bears, this is the place for you. Driving between the city of Waterton Park and the Crandell Mountain campground we would see bears every afternoon/evening. In some cases you would see multiple bears from the same pullout. One evening we returned to our trailer and our fellow campers next to us told us about a bear that had hung out in our campsite for the better part of an hour eating the greenery around our trailer, I was disappointed I didn't get a picture of that.
Didn't see any bears while in Bamff, however should you ever be around Moraine Lake, that is a site to see, I have never seen water in that shade of blue. Looks like a blue Powerade drink.

FYI the $10.00 pass for seniors does not expire, nor does anyone who has a $10.00 need to buy the $80.00 pass.

You can get this senior pass at almost any federal property.

I got mine at a wildlife refuge.

A lifetime pass for $10 ... a nice benefit for older folks.

It gets you in all national parks but also many other federal places you might want to visit.

Pass

We purchased ours several years ago and have used it to avoid all entry fees for many site run by the Natl. Park Serv. in multi states. Not much you can find wrong with an item that you buy for $10.00 and use for the rest of your life! We LOVE it! Ed

I guess I was lucky. One year while visiting Black Canyon of the Gunnison the ranger asked if I had a senior pass. I never heard of a senior pass, so he gave me one....free. I've used it ever since. Great value!
Besides, seniors are way less likely to leave trash, or destroy planting beds, or ruin the experience for others. Why not throw us a bone?

The word is definitely out -- we are selling dozens every day! Even the tour bus drivers are sending all their "silver" passengers in for one.

We kind of dread the day they go to $80 -- you just know we are going to catch a lot of grief over this one. For the record, the increase was congressionally mandated -- the NPS, NFS, BLM, COE had no input...

senior pass

This is one of the best bargain's for seniors out there at $10! No question, for "once" the government has given us a valuable benefit! We have been wondering when they would "catch on" and charge more "tax" for the senior pass. Still a great bargain of you use the parks a lot...we do! Heading to Banff area in Canada with the "free" pass next week! Happy streaming!

Canadian national parks have free admission just for this year, in honour of Canada's 150th anniversary.

Reminder, life time Federal Access Pass for disabled are free. That includes military with VA certified disability as low as 10%. If you apply in person at a federal facility park, etc. they waive the $10 processing fee.

And we just learned at Rocky Mt National Park that we didn't have to wait in the mile-long lines. In the right hand lane you could just swipe your pass to open the crossbar. We'll be hoping that's true everywhere.

I didn't find this true. I had to pay to get into any park.

I just went on line to find out more about parks in Canada. You DO have to pay for Provincial Parks. Others may be free but it is best to check to find out which ones are free.

Hi

If you still are looking for the US Lifetime Senior Pass, keep trying !! We found ours a week ago at a National Forest that had just gotten in a new shipment.
