Nashville in March

Headed for Nashville second week in March.

Unfortunately, our newly discovered favorite COE campground at Seven Points doesn't open until March 31

Anyone have any experience with commercial campgrounds in the Nashville area? I looked at online reviews but you know how that goes.

It looks like there isn't a TN state park that is within an easy drive of Nashville.

All recommendations welcome

Dana

The Cedars of Lebanon SP is east of Nashville about 15-20 minutes. I stayed there in August of 2014. Nice wooded park. The bath houses are old but were cleaned twice a day. It was the closest park I could find. Nashville is pretty spread out.

There are campgrounds at Nashville Shores waterpark opening 27 Feb, kinda pricey. They've got somewhat wooded lots and lakefront spots. Good luck, and have fun!

We stayed at the KOA out by the new Opry Land. For visiting Nashville, it was okay. There was another commercial park next door that was probably a little cheaper. If you're visiting Nashville, you're probably spending most of your time in town or the surrounding area, so for us, the campground didn't matter that much. As I remember the restrooms were decent. For a hoot, and if you're broad minded (very broad minded), I'd recommend the Nash Trash Tour. Think of it as more of a 2 hour rolling comedy act than as a tour but if we returned to Nashville, I'd probably take it a second time.

Is that 20 minutes to the outskirts? Google is telling me 40 minutes at best

It could be 40 minutes if you are going all the way down to Broadway. I was there looking for property and drove all over the area. If you want a nice lunch in a cool spot look up The Pharmacy. Or try Mas Tacos right across the street. Dumpy little place but was on Diners Drive ins and Dives.

Welcome to The Pharmacy

Looks like it's about 30 minutes from our sons house so that might work

Thanks

Tennessee State Parks have reservable sites and honor the federal senior pass, if you have one. Cedars of Lebanon is east, Montgomery Bell is west of Nashville. If you are staying in the area a little longer, our club rally will be at David Crockett SP,Lawrenceburg, TN, Mar 19-22. Join us for an Airstreamin' weekend.

There are three RV parks in the Opry Mills area: KOA, Nashville Easy Livin', and Jellystone.

Hey

thanks for the info. Unfortunately it's just for the week. I have to get back to work and wife back to her substitute teaching job once spring break is over her in Texas.

Our son is the new local host for Morning Edition on WPLN there in Nashville. he was up at Bowling Green, so that area is on our regular rotation of week long trips. I wish Seven Points opened for the season earlier because we just really liked that campground when we were up there in October.

Stayed at Two Rivers Campground. Next to Camping World, close to the mall. Restaurants down the street with entertainment. Bus yard next door, they crank them diesels up at 5 am. to start their routes. Good Sam discount, I give them 3 stars.

How was spacing on the sites? It's so hard to get accurate picture from online reviews..... I guess it's also a matter of relativity. We spent two nights at Davey Crockett Birthplace SP in the fall and they were the closest spaces of any SP that we have stayed in.

About twenty years ago, I put a scratch on the lower body panel of my recently recoated Sovereign 31 at Cedars of Lebanon SP Campground. It's a pretty park, but be careful pulling through on the campground roads.

There are 2 loops at the Cedars. The one just to the right of the registration office has more pull through sites that would be easy in and out. The second loop, to the left, are mostly back in sites but much more private. We did sit and watch a couple across from us spend a half hour trying to back in there brand new 5th wheel. Talking to them later we found it was their first outing with the new trailer and didn't really know what they were doing.
