Naples Ft. Meyers area RV sites HELP

we are planning on a Florida trip next winter and so far have two 14 day sessions at two different State Parks in Florida. that will take care of January. i am interested in finding a good private park for the month of December. i am looking at "wood smoke" or "sandy Acres" but am unsure if they will be a good choise without seeing them myself. i just dont want to be at a RV "parking lot"
if anyone has a line on a good site in the Naples / Fort Meyers area i would appreciate any first hand information.
thanks again
Pete

That depends on how you define 'RV parking lot'. There are many 'RV Resorts' in this area that have extensive tropical landscaping, artificial lakes and large sites. There are also several state parks that are in very natural settings with grass pads.

Where does your interest lie?

thanks for the reply. we have two weeks reserved at Koresham State Park and thn over to the right side at Jonathan Dickinson State Park for the rest of January. what we are looking for is a good RV park for the month of Feb to look around the area. i dont mean to offend but to sit in some parks where they dont allow you to put up awnings as there is no room, is not for me. like I said, Woodsmoke and Shadey Acres look nice but pictures can be deceiving. i am just looking for some ideas and some first hand experiances to help locate a nice clean friendly park.
thanks again for the fast reply
Pete

Stay away from the Red Coconut on Fort Myers Beach. The main door would barely clear the neighbor's trailer when we stayed there.

Look at Silver Lakes and Crystal Lake, both in Naples. Also, look into Lover's Key State Park……just south of Ft. Meyers Beach and on the water.

Also, Cypress Woods in Ft. Meyers.

All have very large lots, take a variety of RV types and have tons of amenities.

We've stayed at Sun 'n' Shade which is North of Fort Myers near Punta Gorda. It is a pretty nice RV Park with adequate space per site. It is more than 5 miles to shopping, so it is in a rural setting (although right on 41).

Many of the RV Parks in SW Florida are really Park Model (non)Mobile Home Parks. I personally like parks that cater to short term travelers.

franklin locks and ortona south save a few spots for drive-ups. you probably won't get a week in one spot but it might work for a few days. i had a florida panther walk by me early one morning this past november at ortona south. the nearest stores are in labelle which is about 12 miles west.

We stayed at Sun N Shade for several months. They have spots for park model and RV, short and long term.
Again, if you are claustrophobic, don't say at Red Coconut.

thanks folks
i appreciate the help. i have looked at some of the corps of engineers site and they do look great but they only have a six month lead time for reservations. Sun and Shade seems to have good reviews. the state parks in florida look awsome. i have tried to get one in the keys but that is like winning the lottery which I am yet to do either!! anyway thanks again and we will get going with more reservations. Pete
