Kind of 4 out of 5 (Fort Desoto)
1. Warm weather - not guaranteed, but pretty good - further south helps
2. On the water - Oh yeah
3. No crowds - Really pretty good - not wally world
4. Low cost - Don't recall the price; not cheap but great value
5. Remote - You can really be remote even within the campground, and lots of place to be remote nearby.
Running/biking trails, kayaking, fishing - not so much hunting.

Just discovered this thread and I'd like to add my 2.....never mind....we'll uncover that later.
First off: Back in the day, say, the early 200's, we used to van down to Florida from Long Island with 4 mountain bikes and four road bikes up top. Our first stop would always be Fort Clinch, outside of Fernandina on the east coast. It had a fair trail system so we could get a quick ride and a beach so we could swim. Nice place. Now that we have the Airstream I'd love to return.
Anybody got some current intel on Fort Clinch? It IS somewhat out of the way (a good thing in our book).
Next item: we may stash our baby down south this coming winter and use it from time to time. Anywhere from way north Florida to Birmingham, Alabama to south Carolina. Really not too particular on the exact location although it helps if there is an airport that serves Southwest or Jet Blue in the general vicinity. Anybody got a good line on safe covered storage down in the lower right corner?
Thanks in advance. And now back to our regularly scheduled off color programming.

We have just spent a month in Panama City Beach, FL and have had a great time. Spring break started last weekend so we are moving farther south in Florida for another month. We stayed in a great rustic campground: Racoon River Campground. It has lots of trees, a playground for your kids, wifi, reasonable prices, lots of good restaurants, and only two blocks walk to the beach. The availability of fresh seafood here is unbelievable. For anyone who hasn't already been here, we recommend you take a look at it.

Well....................if you insist on a warm state, or beach, try Waikiki beaches.
She would love it.
But, you gotta leave the trailer home.
Different but very nice people, great climate, loads of fun, lots of things to do, and a fantastic place.............................to eat too much of that great polynesian food.

Florida in February is so popular, it is tough to find an available site in our wonderful State Parks.
But it can be done, and is well worth it. Bathing garb? Your choice.
