Thumbs up My trip to Jackson Center Ohio

Just got back from jackson center ohio, the terraport was very good some of the things I will bring next time a push broom to sweep off (the nice level )paved area this helps keep those small pebbles out of the trailer, also found out I need a longer stinky slinky mine was way to short ,also the dumping station was closed(suspect it was the time of the year)so I had to drive across two terraport spots sideways to get my tanks dumped, the terraports were very nice with 20,30,50 amp service, and wifi (you need to get a user Name and password from service department front desk also a garbage dumpster conveniently located in middle circle of terraport. On the negative side there were lots of papers lying around blown up against fences etc,and lots of broken branches and leaves lying around,I guess they haven't done there spring clean up yet! Also the water was very hard as it left water spots on trailer (I had to was it because I hit a couple of puddles on the drive to jackson center,(there might have had salt in those puddles) We also took a trip to the small town of Troy to visit there statues ,.unfortunately they were no were to be found ,but enjoyed walking around town,we also went to the bicycle museum aprox 15 miles away and really enjoyed that lots of bikes I never knew existed they even have a airstream folding bike, also went and visit the Neil Armstrong museum it was ok .( I guess I expected more)after all he was the first to walk on the moon,Over all it was a very good visit at jackson center, good friendly staff, and my wife and I met other friendly airstreamers and one other rver,

The important question: Did you do any dumpster diving?

Thanks for the report. I know the site itself is pet friendly, but are you (or any visitors there) aware of any dog friendly activities nearby like off leash parks or a Camp Bow Wow or something similar?

I'm not coming up with anything in google searches but a pet friendly hotel which I don't need. :-)

Steve its pretty darned rural around there. Lots of space for a well behaved dog to run in - IF he doesn't get too excited and remembers to respond to commands.

Well - that settles it. She's going to have to stay with her buddies at our local Camp Bow Wow for a few days. She's a bloodhound and that nose of hers makes commands useless if she's on the scent of something.

She'll have more fun with her K9 buds than hanging with is at the mothership.

No dumpster diving for us! (Poppy)and i would say there is lots of room for a dog to run around ,there is a large grass area with two separate horse shoe games not in great condition also two concrete picnic tables and benches one in poor condition the feet of one bench are concrete blocks, but there are some large trees, fenced off on two sides, there is a propane filling station on site ,I think it's .89 cents per pound, a gas station right next door, and a small restaurant two doors away that serves a good breakfast( never tried lunch or super), and about 7 miles away west on the same road as airstream factory (I think it's called 344 )just west of i75 there is a great restaurant called( in between ) we had chicken there and it was really good and the price were also good.

I read in a previous thread that dumpster diving is a sport there, like fishing. Reports of things found include new Fantastic Fans, new outdoor shower assemblies and other goodies. I'm going in when I'm there!

Maybe you could train your dog to fetch out of the dumpster? Two birds with one stone. Been a rough winter up there, spring cleaning may take a back seat to just thanking God winter is over. At least I hope it is. Jim

Ew, a good trash pickin! That does sound good, especially if you find something useful! Trash treasures are great. Never been to JC's dumpsters yet but I have a laundry steamer and a large air cleaner (Honeywell) with washable Hepa that I grabbed from a "dive"locally.

2 satellite speakers and a subwoofer from about 1999 or so. When I retrieved the speakers from the dumpster in about 2008 I never expected them to work, but to my amazement they did work. I used this speaker system in my previous trailer as an iPod speaker. I have used it as a PA system at
