It's official, my '64 Safari and I have made our maiden camping voyage - to the Historic Races at Laguna Seca in Monterey, CA. My brother and I headed down early Friday morning for the 3 day weekend (not too far of a jaunt from San Jose). Concourso Italiano on Friday and vintage racing at Laguna Seca Saturday & Sunday. Just my luck I managed to forget my owners manual at home so there was a little head scratching with the stove/oven. Camping in an Airstream RULES!!! I met so many wonderful people (who also happend to be Airstreamers). All I had to do was walk up and metion my similar obsession with aluminum and before I knew it I was getting a tour of their coach and being offered a cold one. My plan for next year is to have the Cutlass ready and set up as a vintage tow vehicle. Here it is, outing 2006-01. I look forward to many many more!!
Here's another trip that might interest you: the NorCal Rally at Lake San Antonio. So far, 29 trailers have registered. A great way to learn from the experience of others. Check out the rally notice at http://www.airforums.com/forum...-20;&e=255&c=1.
First outings are great! But then so are the second, third, fourth, fifth, etc....
Laguna Seca and the Historic Races are great! We have been there many times. Fun times! Camping there gives you a great opportunity to see things close but also a chance to rest!
Good luck with your Airstream! Sounds like you are ready to roll!
