Multiple problems can be related...

June 18 - I was a happy camper tooling along from Dallas toward NM when a tire blows on our Airstream trailer. The blowout damaged some of the sheet metal. Put on spare and continue.

June 20 - At the tire store replacing all tires when the mechanic points out a big bald spot on one tire. The otherwise good tread is gone in one spot. This looks like brake problems.

June 21 - At a brake shop having all the Airstream brakes and backing plates replaced.

June 22-26 Happy travels to SW Colorado and back to NM.

June 27 - Went to the local Airstream dealer to get a repair estimate on the sheet metal damaged by the blow out back on June 18. Doing a U-turn in the Airstream Dealer parking lot when a wheel with brake drum falls off of my Airstream!
Airstream mechanic cannot find the cotter pin that is supposed to retain the axel nut. Looks like an error at the brake shop.

Happy to be alive!

Sorry to hear about your misfortune. At least no one was injured. Safe journeys.

Well, let's hope your done for a while!

Jerry -

So sorry to hear of your AS woes.... Knowing you and your attention to the rig and details, makes this sort of thing all the more worrysome for someone like myself....

Heck, if this sorta thing happens to them, then I'm well, lucky...! So far.

Any idea where the 'brake' problem started? Work done? hit a curb? other?

Sorry about the sheet metal damage.... that really stinks.

Surely "Holiday" will have you rolling again, in FINE style, in no time.

Keep us posted!

Axel
