Muddled Thinking While Driving

Driving along yesterday in California on the cut-across from I-5 to 99E on the way to Bakersfield. Nearing the town of Wasco I spotted a lush green area in the midst of infinite dryness. As we neared it there was a sign that said "Cemetery" and one that said "Golf". My immediate thought was that in order to conserve water they use the land in a cross-functional way - as a golf course and a cemetery! I thought it seemed a little, umm, off. But oh so practical in terms of saving water. Complicated though - bad bounces, the need for free drops, proper etiquette...

Of course you're right - I had been driving several hours by then and my thought processes were becoming a little muddled. The cemetery and golf course were *close* to each other, but they were in different areas.

Once during an overnight solo passage in my sailboat I spotted a floating city. I thought that also was out of place. Then it hit me, I had crossed over to the Twilight Zone.
