Ron, I don't think banshees are after YOU...
But, for your own safety, don't go near Ireland.
I'm not sure how far they can travel :-)

And, did I mention

We ran into Southpark CO... what a hoot. An old mining town, with a crazy animated theme. We were hauling tail to get to CO Springs, so we didn't get to stay long, but it was yet another great surprise along the way.

Bagdad Cafe Route 66

Well, I don't know about wailing but I have been known to whine....

So about this Route 66 stuff, I meandered on and off that famous highway a couple of months back...most of the flea-bag motels I stayed in were actually OK (pre 1975 Tradewind). But my scariest encounter was at the Bagdad Cafe. I was talking to the waitress and a giant...I mean HUGE...black cricket crawled up my leg while I was eating a grilled cheese sandwich and drinking a Bud Lite ("when in Rome..."). I nonchalantly flicked the cricket off my leg and continued listening to the waitress' story about how she was diagnosed with lupus while in prison.

It was the best stop EVER!!!

Should have mailed the cricket to my pet tarantula, Clementine! She would LOVE some imported yummies!!

Has Clementine ever had Mormon crickets? Ran into a plague in Nevada. I imagine a tarantula would find them quite scrumptuous...

I love that movie. And it's Bagdad without the "h" in Newberry Springs, CA. I do have pictures - at home I think - so will scan an attach to a post. Remember the airstream Jack Palance lived in? It's there (a shell) along with another oldie.

We have two, count 'em TWO, dinosaurs here in Spring Hill. Both are out on US Hwy 19. One is a gas station; the other is just there.

We also have a bevy of mermaids. School of mermaids? Pod of mermaids? Anyway, I'm thinking I may need to trek over to the highway tomorrow with the camera.

The more I think about it, FL is filled with all kinds of the things we love from Route 66. You guys might consider coming down here for the Thanksgiving Forum Rally in FL.

I am sure she would LOVE them, but she is just ONE dinky spider.. about six inches from toe tip to toe tip.

She eats about a dozen crickets a month.

Sorry, just entertaining myself. A thanksgiving rally sounds nice... when is it. Thanksgiving is by far my LEAST favorite holliday. I'm a picky eater, and I rarely find ANYTHING on the table that I like....Usually we head up to Michigan, but as I've proven, nothing is ever set in stone with me....
