Hi! I'm new to Airstreaming and am looking for a good place in Mississippi that's quiet and preferably close to the beach. Anyone have any recommendations?? thanks in advance

There are a few trailer parks along the beach route in Biloxi. There's an airbase there and night life can be sort of spooky. But here is a few locators links for you to toy with. Say Hi to Mississippi for me!

Hope these will find you something nice.

Patagonialgrl,

How close to the beach do you want to be? Gulf Islands National Sea Shore in Ocean Springs, MS is quiet and close to the beach. They were closed after Katrina, but should be open now. They do not have full hookups, water & electricity.

Redhawk, thanks for the link. I will stay away from the nightlife, mine will consist of some campfire cooking and a couple beers by the AS Will def say hi to Mississippi for you!

Overlander, thanks for the link as well. I def need full hookups, but will look it up if we're travelling and need a place for just a night or so.

I'll let you guys know where we decided on and tell you our experience with it

I was born in Amarillo Texas, and raised up in Mississippi around Winona and Tupelo. I remember helping shell butterbeans on the front porch of an old farmhouse. And un-like where we are now (no trees)...I miss the smell of the forests and pine trees!

Gulf Islands National Seashore is a favorite of ours. Take your bicycle but watch out for the gators. They have paved, smooth trails for biking.

Travel safe,

Maggie

If you want to have real fun...when you get to the beach. At night you take what is called a 'Fig-zig' (a hooked fork kind of like a trident on a broom handle) for stabbing- and bring a kerosene lantern with a reflector to cast the light in the direction you are wading in low tide. And hunt for FLOUNDER fish.
They lay hidden in the sand beneath the waterand you can just see their shape. Then...slowly quietly walk up on it and BAM! You got broiled flounder in drawn butter for dinner!
But watch out they are fast!

I'm from Dallas which is an incredible place, but I'm loving my trees and I love country life. I've been through Mississippi countless times but haven't spent much time enjoying the scenery. I'm counting down the days! I'll let you know how it goes. Oh, and can't wait to check out the link to your art, I too am an artist

Thanks HiHoAgRv I've narrowed a list down and I think I'll head to the area that is closest to most of my top picks. That way I'll have a couple to choose from!

Great idea Redhawker! I can't wait to try it! We're cooking enthusiasts and love most any fish especially over a campfire!
