I am looking for a campground open in winter for a visit to the West Allis Hospital and possibly Greendale area subsequently.
Has anyone any experience with the Wisconsin State Fair Campgrounds? I read it is open all year, hook-ups, easy access and level and quiet for a parking lot in the city, true? Security any issue?
There is also a campground around Greendale called Oak Creek that I cannot find any reviews or information on.
Carol, I was just at an RV show this past weekend. I have some info still in the car. I will take a look at it this evening and PM you some info. I gathered info from IL, WI and IN.
I do know that Chain 'o Lakes State Park and Zion (both at the IL/WI state line) are open year round, however they are both about 50 miles from West Alis.
BTW, I just did a Google search entering Milwaukee Campgrounds and found a ton of info and phone numbers. I'd also give that a try too. I believe the State Fairgrounds phone number was there too.

Thanks Eric. Good ideas. I know Chain Of Lakes, we used to live a couple of miles from there. We have camped at both Chain of Lakes and Zion. My son lives in Mc Henry and perhaps I could stay over there. Driving that distance is possibly more convenient than holding up in an Airstream in winter. I can't believe I did not think of that option.
