Bayfield, Wi is worth a stop on the way up if you go that way. Copper harbour good. Been a long, long time and I do not know if there is a road out there now, but Point Abbey is a wonderful place to enjoy the lake on a long day trip.

If you want the grandkids to be able to swim minus hypothermia try the Manistique area on lake michigan. good golf, nice people and everything is accessible from there.

Munising Tourist Park is a municipal park with hookups. Call and try to get a lakefront site. I think they are full hookup. Close to Pictured Rocks NLS.

Only about 25 sites have full hookup, but most have water and electric. They do have a dump station. It a nice campground, reasonably priced, and in a great location right on lake Superior.

Of course, we're getting into Wisconsin, here, but if you do visit Bayfield (Apostle Islands area) there are several campgrounds to choose from. There is one commercial campground in Bayfield, Apostle Islands Area Campground, I believe it is called, but we did not find it inviting when we stayed there. It is for sale and I think the owners are tired of running a campground. Hostile signage all over the place.

If you want to stay in the Bayfield area I highly recommend both of the Washburn municipal campgrounds, located a few miles down the road in Washburn. Washburn Wisconsin - Camping Facilities Both of them are right on Lake Superior, with their own beaches. 30/50 A electric hookup sites for only $22 a night, campground equipped with water, restrooms with showers, and dump station.
