Memorial Day 2012 - Texas Beach

We picked up our Airstream today and spent the evening packing for our Memorial Day 2012 trip. Will be taking photos from our trip to Port Aransas, TX.

We leave Austin tomorrow (Wednesday) evening and will stay the first night at Palmetto State Park (about an hour down the road). This is a link to their website => http://www.tpwd.state.tx.us/state-parks/palmetto Then Thursday we will travel on soutward to the beach in Port Aransas, TX. We will be staying at Gulf Waters RV Resort (stayed there last year and like it very much) Thursday through Monday morning. This is a link to their website => http://www.gulfwatersrvresorttx.com/

My Mom is going with us. She likes to go camping with us and we wanted to get her out of town for the holiday.

Anyone else going to be at the beach in Port Aransas, TX?

What are your holiday plans?

Hope y'all have a great time! Wish we were going to the beach this weekend, but, as you saw, Abby isn't ready to go anywhere at the moment
My Mom and Dad said to tell y'all "Hi" and have a great trip, and tell you Mom that they bought me a fan.
Happy travels!

Living along the Gulf Coast, I have to admit that 98% relative humidity is good for you— why bother breathing your air when you can drink it instead?— but for vacations, I prefer to get away from the coast.

Opened this thread to read as saw a (relatively) new Tundra pulling a new mid-size A/S yesterday southbound on IH-37 into the Corpus Christi area.

Have a good time. Was comparing notes on PA eateries with a mud engineer when out near Fowlerton on a remote drilling rig yesterday.

WOW! Thanks for sharing the pics. I'll have to add Gulf Waters RV Park to my list of places to check out.

...looks like a good time.

I typically prefer the camping experience of National, State, County and LCRA Parks over RV Parks; however, I have to say that I highly recommend Gulf Waters RV Park. The sites are individually owned and many of the owners place them into the rental pool. Site price is dependent upon location (beach sites are more expensive than pool sites) as well as the amenities of the site.

It's really nice having both the beach and the pool available in one location.

I was surprised how the RV Park had a nice mix of all age groups. They say it's full from October to April moreso with those that are fortunate to be retired and spend winters in the south ... and then summer months are full on most weekends. So if you go make sure you plan ahead and make reservations.

They also said a new Schliterbaun water park is going to be constructed starting July 2012 so they're anticipating even greater demand for the sites. We're giving serious thought to purchasing a site.

Very Pretty

Did notice they have an age restriction on the trailers, "unless approved by Management". So once the trailer is 10 years old, you may not get in.. And since mine is rapidly approaching middle age (28 years old now) I guess I would have to send them pics or something in advance.
Gorgeous park though. Boardwalk to the beach, very nice.
ps: Your dogs did a very good job of keeping me away from the trailer when we were leaving the note.
