[Moderator note] Lets not get too deep into the why's of funding and budgets, and try to stick to the topic discussion of what passes are necessary for which parks/public lands.

one of the truck side pockets is full of parking stickers of one sort or another. but that's the way it goes. instead of trying to figure it all out in advance, we simply read the notices as we enter campgrounds here and there. one of the better ones here in WA is the seniors state park pass. you pay $75 for this pass which is good from mid September until May of the following year. at any WA state park, full hookups then cost $10/night. if you don't hookup, you stay for free. i think the age cutoff is either 65 or 70, can't remember. the pass is available at any state park.

yes, this is a WA residents perk. age limit is 62 and up. didn't take very long for us to recover the cost of the pass.

So, are there any passes for no residents or do we have to pay full price? We are over 62.

not sure about this question but the WA parks web site is well done and probably will have the answer to that question for you. BTW, every WA state park we have stayed at is worth it. they are well kept, clean and in some great locations as well. there are also several county campgrounds that are highly regarded as well. Saltcreek is one of them, hard to get into but worth it if you can. wonderful views of the strait from several of their sites.
