Maiden voyage

Hi. In April or May a friend and I plan to take our 1978, 31 ft Sovereign out on it Maiden Voyage with us. It has travelled a good deal with the former owner, most recently a trip to the Pendelton Roundup from Long Beach Washington and back, but it has never gone with us and we have zero experience pulling such a big trailer. We plan to rent a truck for the try-out stage. We are really not sure we want to be towing. I have some questions. It wieghs about 5700 lbs unloaded.

First. The trailer handled just fine according to the former owner when he took it to Pendelton in august. Should we have anything checked at the dealer in Seattle or a Camping World before we take off. It occurred to me that we should consider having the arel repacked and the brakes checked.

Second. Has anyone rented a truck to pull a trailer? Many years ago I rented a truck to pull a 19 ft Dutchman from Seattle to the Olympic Penninsula and the experience was down right frightening. Looking back on it now, I wonder if we had any brakes hooked up at all. If you have experience renting a truck to pull your trailer, please let me know what you did.

thanks.

No problems now!

JD,

See ya in about a week!
