Well, Lucy has finally departed Buffalo. The Moose hunting was so good, we ended up spending eleven nights in Buffalo. We stayed at the Indian Campground right in Buffalo. It was really nice with five point hook-ups. Lucy will stay there again next year.

Lucy headed south to Laramie, Wyoming. We took the Interstate as far as Casper. We then took Wyoming 487 down to Medicine Bow, and US 30 on into Laramie. It was a good route that gave Lucy a break from the Interstate. The route took us through Medicine Bow and Rock River, both cute little town. It also took us through Bosler which is a virtual ghost town. It was kind of sad going through there.

There were some interesting rock formations not far out of Buffalo (#1). In Medicine Bow, we caught a poor old Airstream out in a yard yearning to go on a trip. He was really jealous to see Lucy go by (#2). We also got a photo of the historic Virginian Hotel (#3).

Lucy made camp at the KOA in Laramie. We are planning to stay here two or three days so we can check out the Moose activity around Walden, Colorado. Laramie also has some really significant historic buildings in its Central Business District which we plan to check out tomorrow.

Your last photo from yesterday caught one of my favorite greasy spoons in Buffalo...The Dash Inn. They have the best burger in the area...the Dash Burger. Also, their Chili-Cheese Fries are awesome!!!

The Dash In is right next to the driveway to the Indian Campground. We never did make it there, though. They were always closed by the time we got back to town.

Lucy is camped in Laramie. We drove down Fort Collins, Colorado, this morning to take a look at an Alaskan Truck Camper. We have been wanting to look at one for some time, and the dealer in Fort Collins is the closest one to Florida. We are planning ahead for when Olivia and Daisy wear out. We are considering pulling Lucy with a truck camper so that we can take side trips into more remote terrain.

This dealership is using a late model 16' Bambi for their sales office in the back of the lot.

We came back to Laramie and took a look around downtown. We saw a net Argosy parked down by the train station.

Laramie, Wyoming, seems like a very unlikely place to have the first criminal trial in history to have women on the jury.

Can you really do that? Are you talking about a canopy or a camper?

We are talking about a truck camper. We are shopping pop-up truck campers like the Alaskan which weighs in at 1500# dry. We are also looking at other brands of pop-up truck campers. We realize that we are probably talking a 3500 Duramax or similar for this purpose.

Here are some more pics of the Alaskan.

We are still camped at the KOA in Laramie. We set out today into the Medicine Bow Mountains west of Laramie. When we got above 10,000' there was over three feet of snow still on the ground. The Mooses were nowhere to be found.

We headed south into Colorado. South of Walden, we explored most of the back roads in the Arapaho Wildlife Refuge. We spotted two Mooses, but both were at binocular range.

We started back to Laramie at about 6 o'clock. We had one good Moose sighting along Wyoming 127 just north of the Colorado state line.

We got back to Lucy after dark, as usual.

Truck campers are remarkably comfy and roomy, from what we've seen. Not that we want to trade , but they offer a dinette and spacious kitchen area, which is very appealing. We've seen little awnings attached to the rear, and them set up at sites sans tow vehicle.

Maggie,

We're not considering getting rid of Lucy. We're looking a the light weight pop-up truck campers for side trips into the boonies. We will continue to tow Lucy with the truck camper.

This is a long range plan as we need to wear out our two tow Suburbans. This is probably two to three years down the line.

Noticed you were in Buffalo, WY last week. The temps looked cool. We will be there around June 24 while heading to Gillette. Hope it will not be hot then! We lived in FL for 5 years Miami/Ft. Lauderdale and Pt. Charlotte/Punta Gorda. Yes it is good you can see the mountains. We live in the Pacific NW [back home]. We love mountains. Enjoying your journey!

Aah, I see. A truck camper might weather those side roads a bit better?

We broke out of Laramie this morning and headed east on I-80. We are camped in Sidney, Nebraska tonight. We were only a couple of hours out of Laramie when we stopped for a break along I-80 in Nebraska when we saw a sign for a Cabela's Outdoor Gear Superstore. How fortuitous! As we came into the Cabela's parking lot, we realized that Cabela's had its own RV park on the grounds. We checked it out and it was so nice that we decided to stop early. Really nice campground with five point hook-ups for $27. We couldn't resist.

We had a nice lunch in downtown Sidney, and toured the town. Sidney is the Headquarters for Cabela's. Their main office is here.

Sorry those Colorado moose wouldn't come closer. When I first saw the Virginian Hotel, I thought it was a prison. Quite a nice campground at Cabelas. Haven't seen a moose since the one a quarter mile away in northern BC. Looks like you are on the homeward side of the trip. Sounds like it was productive.

We stayed at that Cabela's campground in 2008. Very nice, and a WalMart just across the road, too, if I remember correctly. An abundance of riches.

Gene,

We've been following your trip also. Great posts!

You are correct, we have started back home. We did sight over 100 Mooses on this trip.

You are correct Maggie. The Wal-Mart is directly across I-80.

Thanks for the compliments Brian. You saw 100 times more mooses than we have. It oughta get better as we get further north. Sorry your wonderful posts will be soon coming to an end.
