Brian, agreed, we liked Sequoia a lot too, maybe because it's quieter. Sure is hard to take a picture of a tree that high. Mt. Shasta is quite a big guy. We stayed at a little town on the south side, though, as usual I can't remember the name.

Hi Brain,

We stayed in that campground a few years ago. I remember telling the manager in the store there that the guy who put the website together should get an academy award for the production because he did a lot of photo cropping LOL. They couldnt help the weather but it was over 100F each day. The pool turned green from the iron in the water (or so they said) and the dust was something like a burning man event. I recognize the spot your in. Maybe it would have been better if it was cooler and not so many people but we will never take that chance again. Glad you guys are doing ok. Sorry about the brakes. Pretty easy to adjust as I wouldnt hesitate to try it if I were you. Great pictures.

We made it to Mount Shasta

We got going this morning at Yosemite at about 11:00. The camper next to us was a retired Georgia State Patrol Trooper, so we ended up in an extensive law enforcement conversation.

We made our way down the mountain and got on California 99. What a relief as Lucy's brakes were not doing real good. As that wasn't bad enough, we also had problems with Lucy's tail lights. The left turn signal breaker kept blowing. We finally got that situation corrected in a Wal-Mart Parking lot. We blew 8 separate 15 amp fuses trying to get it fixed. Finally, with two stoplights, we continued our journey.

We got to the KOA in Mount Shasta at about 7:00 PM and got Lucy set up. We headed out to the local grocery store and got stuff for a microwave supper in Lucy. We also checked out the location of the local auto parts/RV supply store for a brake adjustment tool and a new cotter pin for the Hensley as we somehow lost one in today's travels.

The KOA has great wifi and cable, so we are happy. We even saw a Super Wal-Mart today.

Tomorrow is a Lucy maintenance day.

We got a really good picture of Mount Shasta on the way in this evening.

Brian

After a Lucy maintenance session this morning, we headed up to Mount Shasta. It's pretty impressive, covered in snow this late in the season. We were able to drive as far as the 7000' level. This a staging area to climb on the the top (14,000+ feet). There were quite a few people there preparing to go up. Many were packing skis and snow boards. We talked to several. They told us that they hike up and ski down.

We back at Lucy at the KOA tonight. We're starting to pack her up to hit the road in the morning and catching the last Jay Leno Tonight Show.

Shasta ALWAYS has snow on it. Nearby Lassen also no matter the season. We used to camp at Lassen when the kids were home. Northern Calif. is beautiful. If you are heading north on I- 5 be prepared for quite a climb into Oregon. Enjoying your travels.

I recommend you guys enjoy the cool weather and take your time coming back. We drove through Santa Rosa yesterday on our way to Pensacola. It was in the mid 80's but humidity was not to bad. Getting higher today. Thought about you when we went through and figured you were a lot cooler than we were.

We departed the KOA, Mount Shasta, California, yesterday morning, and headed north. We nursed Lucy along as her brakes are minimal at best.

We made the 250 mile trip up I-5 without incident. When we arrived in Eugene, Oregon, Lucy and Daisy both got a well-deserved bath. They were both dirty and very dusty.

We got a really nice campsite at Deerwood RV Park on the south end of Eugene. Will will visit with SuEllyn's cousin here for the weekend, and see to repairs on Lucy's brakes on Monday morning.

I am posting a couple of pictures of Airstreams spotted on the road in the last few days. The Bambi was in line to enter Yosemite NP, and the 25 was rolling northbound on I-5 near the California/Oregon line yesterday morning. The others are of our campsites in Mount Shasta and Eugene.

Today in Eugene, we visited Suellyn's cousin and her husband. They live about 4 miles from the campground. They live out in the country. One of their neighbors has a donkey ranch, and another has an alpaca ranch. We visited both. It was like a day at the petting zoo.

We're taking Lucy for her brake work tomorrow morning.

Loved your Yosemite and Mt. Shasta pictures. We know both areas well. We spent the first week of May in Yosemite Valley (North Pines campground) with our Airstream. May is peak waterfall month... and as your pics show the falls are still flowing well. That accounts for the crowds you found. Spring waterfall season is a very popular time in Yosemite. Keep sending your reports.... my wife and I love to follow your adventures with Lucy!

Brian, I finally found out it was you and your wife who came up with the idea of putting in a cabinet for the microwave and a printer on the "sofa". I remembered seeing a picture, but couldn't remember clearly who posted it. I couldn't find it either. Bob Sunrus confirmed it was you. I have ordered a small unfinished bookcase and should have it soon and then can finish it, run a USB2 cable under the cushions to the dinette, and solve storage, counterspace and "where can we put a printer?" issues in one swell foop.

So, a very public thank you for the idea, one I wouldn't have thought of myself. Another instance how we can help each other by sharing our experiences.

Glad to see some of your photos have returned.

I'd like to see your "cabinet for the microwave and printer on the sofa" solutions. I can take the lap top and use in bed or at the dinette, but don't have a place for the printer yet. But, I do have the built in microwave (convection/microwave).

I think that part of the magic is getting the right printer for the job. Canon makes one designed for travel, the Pixma iP90v. I've seen a friend's work and it is just magical: easy to use, wireless, great colour or B&W prints, and can even go boondocking with a 12V adapter or rechargeable battery.

Oh, it's only 12.3"(W) x 2.1"(H) x 6.9"(D) and weighs a not-so-whopping 4 lbs, too!

No, I don't work for Canon, but I do love their products. Great software, too: bug-free and really useful!

SuEllyn built this cabinet on top of the couch in our 25FB. It is anchored to the wall next to the refrigerator. It houses our microwave and printer. It also provides our counter space for packing Moose Tags for shipment.
