The base is sitting on the ground on top of a Lynx Leveler. It is fastened with velcro straps to both the lower and upper awning mounts. It seems to hold very well and it has been somewhat breezy today. Please keep in mind that this is our first attempt at this.

I will take some photos of the mounting details in the morning and post them. This is assuming that the pole is intact in the morning.

Thanks for the tip, Randy.

We had already made a reservation at Evergreen RV Park on Oxnard Boulevard a while back as it is Memorial Day Weekend.

It is actually an external wifi card that has its own antenna on it. It is synced to our laptops with a USB cable. It is a full size USB at the computer and a mini-USB at the unit. It is called Wave RV and in made by Radio Labs. We have been using this wifi card for about two yrars now. We can usually get on the campground wifi when others can't.

The Wave RV is evry small and light. About a year ago we started putting up on a couple of pieces of PVC to increase the range. This worked very well. Our recent flag pole purchase give us an even higher purch for the Wave RV.

The company that makes iy is in Fortuna, California, and can be found at RadioLabs - Radio, Wireless and Beyond -.

Her are a few pictures of it.

Brian, looking at the photos, it appears there's an antenna on the top of the blue box. The company's website refuses to load, so I can't tell what it looks like or costs. How do you get the USB cable outside?—just crunch it through the door—or does the external unit transmit to the internal unit which is connected to the laptop with a USB cable?

Very creative use of the RV flagpole.

We have a similar one and use a RV flag pole holder placed under the jack.

Both the flag pole and holder were obtained from a local flag store.

Yes that is an antenna attached to the wifi card. The unit comes with two antennas. The larger one is in the photo. We run the USB cable through a small hole that we cut in the screen by the dinette. This unit is an independent wifi card and does not interface with or use the built-in wifi card in the lap top.

Brian, sounds interesting and this time the Radio Labs site did work. They now have a model without the box, everything in the antenna. I imagine it could be mounted on the side of the trailer near the fridge and the cable be brought in there at the vent, and thence to a computer, thought an extension USB cable would be necessary. Do you use this for campground wireless, or an aircard?

I've noticed on this last trip when campgrounds offered wireless, it seemed to work better than last year. I think they're learning how to do it. When we went days without campground wireless, I found places with free wireless to keep me under control.

And, thanks for the photos. That art deco building in Arcadia was a real find.

We've noticed that, too; could be more and more folk are taking their laptops and complaining when they can't get online and the parks are forced to upgrade. We've gotten faster service by parking outside pizza joints.

New stripes?

Hi, Brian. Do I detect new stripes on Lucy? Looks good. In a few days we are going to head back south. ["Bob & Lee's random trip"] Are you still going to go north? If so we might cross paths. More than likely we will be taking the "5" back home, at least until we hit California. Them maybe the "101" and "1". We are in Seattle right now for one more day.

SuEllyn decided that Lucy needed side accent stripes in Moose Tags Colors. She completed the curbside, but Lucy's street side is still bare. She ran out of time before we left. It's not a big deal since nobody can see both sides of the trailer at the same time. We will be headed north on the 5 tomorrow. We are headed up to around Groveland.
