New stripes?

Hi, Brian. Do I detect new stripes on Lucy? Looks good. In a few days we are going to head back south. ["Bob & Lee's random trip"] Are you still going to go north? If so we might cross paths. More than likely we will be taking the "5" back home, at least until we hit California. Them maybe the "101" and "1". We are in Seattle right now for one more day.

SuEllyn decided that Lucy needed side accent stripes in Moose Tags Colors. She completed the curbside, but Lucy's street side is still bare. She ran out of time before we left. It's not a big deal since nobody can see both sides of the trailer at the same time. We will be headed north on the 5 tomorrow. We are headed up to around Groveland.

Goodbye Oxnard!

We will head our in the morning. We hope to make somewhere up near Yosemite tomorrow night.

Her are a couple of pictures from the last couple of days.

The bakery truck is one we couldn't resist.

Hey, that satellite tree looks familiar....near the 33 on ramp heading south on 101?? We're up the block in Ojai. Safe travels. The Grapevine (Hwy 5) is u-g-l-y. Like many California roads, it is due for resurfacing. We normally take the 101 North to the 46/41 to Hwy 5 (end up in Kettleman City).

We have arrived at the doorstep of Yosemite. Lucy has settled in to the Yosemite Pines RV Resort in Groveland, California. We arrived her about dust after an exciting trailer pulling adventure up California Highway 41 and across 120. None the worse for wear, we have settled in for the night.

We are planning to spend several days here doing the park.

Here are a couple of pictures of today's travel.

We spent yesterday in Yosemite Nation park. It was surprisingly crowded for a Tuesday this early in the season.

We got to see a few things including Half Dome, the park's signature mountain.

We are camped at Yosemite Pines RV Park. It's really nice and fairly close to the Park. They have a bunch of Yurts here.

What is the proximity of Yosemite Pines RV Park to the actual park and what amenities do they offer? We are planning a trip to Yosemite in a couple of years and would like to stay in the park or as near it as we can, but would like to have water and electric and if possible, sewer connection. I would hate to have to haul the blue tank all the way from Georgia just to use in places where we want to stay more than one night.

Funny as the name is in our slang, Bimbo has something of a national monopoly on baked goods (bread & sweets like cupcakes or Twinkies) in most if not all of Mexico. Seemingly a hugely successful company, there. I know they've bought at least one large regional bakery in the US, and don't seem to be doing as well - changing recipies & ingredients, skimping on quality. I wonder if maybe they didn't do their due diligence?? Axels can be expensive too! Ask Andy

After looking at the picture of Brian's trailer at Yosemite, I think it needs axles too. The road must be a hill and the site must be level, making it look like in the photo the roadside is sinking. Looks like a nice uncrowded campground, though dusty. Good photos.

Lately when I click on "view last post" on this thread and some others, I often get a much earlier post after the thread runs up and down quite a bit. It seems to happen on threads with a lot of photos only.

It's about 18 miles from the West Entrance of Yosemite NP. It's as close as you can get with full hook-ups. Everything in the Park is dry camping.

They should really consider using a different brand name in the U.S. Use of the name "Bimbo" here will cause them not to be taken seriously.

It's a nice CG, but it is really dusty, and if it were to rain, it would be really muddy.

yeah...its been done before. Unless its an urban legend, I read somewhere that GM had to change the name of what we know as the "Chevy Nova" in Latin-American markets, because "No Va" means "it doesn't go".
It would be like naming a car, "lemon". not a good marketing strategy...

25 years ago I studied in Mexico on a study abroad program for a quarter and remember seeing Nova's and their name, IIRC, was Americain. That may have been the name of the Ford Futura, though...after 25 years, I can't remember for sure.

Some people like bimbos. I remember a president back in the 20th century who had a real affection for them, and food too. Warren G. Harding also liked bimbos. If presidents like 'em, there must be something to it.

It certainly gets immediate name recognition amongst others. A lot of immigrants know the brand and will buy it. But we digress…

Can't wait to see where you go next—I'm guessing Sequoia NP.

We spent yesterday in Yosemite, doing the hike to the Sequoia Grove. The hike in was great as it was all down hill. The hike out was a different story. We didn't feel too bad though as we passed several couples on the way out that were much younger than us.

We caught a very rare double rainbow on the way back to the campground.

We are packing up Lucy this morning to head out. No Gene, it's not Sequoia, we were there several years ago. In retrospect, we actually preferred it to Yosemite. We are headed up to Mount Shasta, California. We should be there this evening.

Brian, agreed, we liked Sequoia a lot too, maybe because it's quieter. Sure is hard to take a picture of a tree that high. Mt. Shasta is quite a big guy. We stayed at a little town on the south side, though, as usual I can't remember the name.

Hi Brain,

We stayed in that campground a few years ago. I remember telling the manager in the store there that the guy who put the website together should get an academy award for the production because he did a lot of photo cropping LOL. They couldnt help the weather but it was over 100F each day. The pool turned green from the iron in the water (or so they said) and the dust was something like a burning man event. I recognize the spot your in. Maybe it would have been better if it was cooler and not so many people but we will never take that chance again. Glad you guys are doing ok. Sorry about the brakes. Pretty easy to adjust as I wouldnt hesitate to try it if I were you. Great pictures.
