Brian...I enjoyed your narrative regarding the "down" truck...they were fortunate to have your help. A reminder that we should all look for ways to help others.

While I enjoy reading your travel notes...the moose pictures are great. We have Mooses (as you call them ) in Northern MN...but not in the numbers you are seeing. Enough of them (and deer) that we worry while traveling the roads on our motorcylces.

What are you "shooting" your mooses with? What camera and lens? I am a wanabee photographer with little skill...Thanks for your thread...Tom R in Two Harbors, MN

Gene,

Hammer Chevrolet's building in Sheridan is probably one of the best remaining original examples of an art deco auto dealership anywhere in this country. What makes this one extra special is that it is still engaged in its original role as a car dealership. I sure hope that Hammer Chevrolet is not on the GM 'hit list' after 72 years in business.

Here are a couple of more photos that I did not post.

Last Day of Moose Hunting

Today is our last day in the Bighorn national Forest. It rained here off and on most of the day. In spite of the nasty weather, we were able to view seven Mooses in a short day on the mountain. We had a special treat when we spotted a Mother Moose with two little guys. This sighting was close enough to get some good photos.

We returned to Lucy early, and I took Daisy over to Sheridan for a well-deserved bath. After a week on mostly dirt roads in the rain, she was muddy and dirty.

We're starting to pack up Lucy tonight. We will depart in the morning and head east into South Dakota.

Love the moose pictures. Especially the one with the babies.

Any chance we could see a nice picture of Lucy's hitch receiver? We have need of it this week

Teresa,

I am terribly sorry about the pictures. I took them when you first requested them. I really meant to post them, and then forgot. So, here they are.

Tom,

We are shooting our photos with a Nikon D80 Digital SLR with a Nikon DX 18-200mm Zoom Lens with the VR (vibration reduction) feature.

Well, we're on our way home, sort of.

SuEllyn decided two days ago that we coulod make it to Jacksonville in time for Fathers Day. SuEllyn's Dad will be 92 in October, so it would be nice if she were there.

We had a commitment in Sioux falls, South Dakota on Thursday. We spent Wednesday night in Sioux Falls. We departed Sioux Falls around 1:00 PM on Thursday with 1600 miles to go to Jax.

We pulled Lucy until about 11:00 last night and did a little over 500 miles. We have 1046 miles to go. We're planning to get past Nashville tonight, and should make Jax late tomorrow.

500 miles per day is a lot if you do that three days in a row. You will be whupped when you get to Jacksonville on Saturday. Drive safely and take care.

You two are sound a lot like me when I want to be somewhere. Drive then Drive some more. 500 miles a day is not un-common when I travel.

Lucy and Daisy made it back!

We pulled into Jacksonville about dark last night. We are not home yet, but we will stay in Jax for about a week to visit with SuEllyn's Dad, our son, and other family here.

In the last 2 1/2 days, we went from Sioux Falls, South Dakota to Jacksonville, Florida. It was a little over 1600 miles with two quick overnights in Boonville, Missouri, and Manchester, Tennessee. The pace beat us up a bit, but we're feeling really great this morning. Lucy and Daisy are really dirty, but none the worse for wear

Lucy's California Adventure lasted 51 days, covered 19 States, and we did a little over 10,000 miles. Lucy got 4 new tires, all new brakes, and new wheel bearings.

The trip's not over 'till you're home. Have a great time of fellowship with family and friends next week and let us know when you get home so we won't be worried. We'll leave a light on for ya'.
