It is probably to late but avoid US 93 north of Missoula. They are working on it AGAIN!. It never stops during the summer.

Kalispell down 83 then 200 and back to I-90 is you best bet.
We had already experienced the section of US 93 that you mention. It was quite an experience. I think it was the most Airstream unfriendly section of roadway that I have yet to experience. The gravel roads to remote campsites in the Bighorn National Forest are somewhat smoother.

After we cleared this area, we stopped and straightened up Lucy. Things had fallen that had never become displaced before.

Brian,

Just got home from our adventure, and am trying to catch up on forum reading......wifi was not the best on the road.

Great trip report.....after you get back home, we need to get together for a cold one and share some stories.

Safe travels.

We're headed that way too. What about US 93 north from Kalispell to Eureka? Is it also under construction?

I'm sorry, I don't know. We didn't come that way.

We arrived in Bozeman, Montana, late yesterday afternoon. We got Lucy settled in at the KOA. Today was a maintenance day. We spent the morning doing laundry. After five weeks on the road, we really needed to do this.

This afternoon we toured downtown Bozeman. It's a neat little town with many historic houses and commercial buildings. After looking around for a while, we reprovisioned at the Wal-Mart Supercenter, and headed back to Lucy.

Tomorrow, it's on to Wyoming and Moose hunting in the Bighorn National Forest.

Bozeman was the objective in the motorcycle tour described in "Zen And The Art Of Motorcycle Maintenance".

Any signs of that in town that you noticed?

ps: great photos, as usual. Did you notice what the building called "Hamill" is about?

Hi, I think that is where we got two rock chips in my windshield, and after we got home, when my Lincoln got it's first bath, I noticed two rock chips in my paint too.

I did not notice any particular relationship to motorcycles here in Bozeman, at least in the parts of town that we went through. Being a former bike cop, I tend to notice motorcycle things wherever we go.

As far as the Hamil Building goes, I didn't notice anything that indicated what its current use is. I was just impressed with the art deco architecture.

Daisy and Lucy both have so many rock chips that we don't even notice anymore.

The only sure way to keep rock chips off your Airstream is to never take it anywhere.

So true about dings and chips.

Keep those art deco photos coming. Barb and I love art deco and arts and crafts and mission oak. All fits with our Navajo rugs too.

We broke camp at Bozeman, Montana, this morning, and headed toward Wyoming.

We made a stop at Livingston, Montana to look at some of their famous architecture and their spectacular train depot. Livingstone was the gateway to Yellowstone National Park from the late 19th Century through the middle of the the 20th Century. Visitors would arrive at Livingston by train and continue to the Park by horse-drawn wagon, and later by bus. The Livingston train was really something for a town this size.

We continued on to Ranchester, Wyoming, where we made camp for Lucy at the Lazy R RV Park. It is really nice. Lucy had camped here several times before. It is right at the foot of the Bighorn National Forest.

As soon as we got Lucy set up, we headed up into the mountains. At the 8,000 foot level the road was socked in with fog. We decide to return to Lucy and try it again in the morning.

We're a bit behind you....leaving McCall, Idaho today for parts East. We left our Winie ('07 Winick Bambi) at home and are traveling in our SOB. What's your next stop? Are you by chance heading to South Dakota & Mt. Rushmore, Crazy Horse, etc? If so, we highly recommend Rafter J Bar Ranch in Hill City as a destination resort. Rafter J Bar Ranch, Black Hills, SD , Welcomes You!

Brian, that radio station is the best yet. Though the building with the clock and the bears is real good too, and the movie theater…. We love small town architecture, especially where it hasn't been ruined with "modernization". I'll have to remember Livingston next time we're in that area—we blew through there in '06 in a hurry to get to Yellowstone.
