So glad you found Moose, and an Elk!
The Tetons are spectacular, that is for sure.
We saw a black wolf there in 2008.
Travel safely,
Maggie

Lucy broke camp in Buffalo, Wyoming this morning. We headed south on I-25 through the Wyoming countryside. We passed through Casper, Cheyenne, and into Colorado. We hit some heavy traffic due to a fender bender. This put us in Downtown Denver pulling a large trailer just in time for Friday rush hour. We finally inched our way through the traffic and made it to the other side. We headed east-bound out of Denver on I-70. We tried to get a campground at about 6:30, but everything was full. We continued east on I-70 until we got to Seibert,Colorado, where we found a campsite at the Shady Grove RV Park at about nine o'clock. We ended up covering 530 miles today.
We are spending the night in Kit Carson County.

We were in Site 28, and saw your 23 as we went by your site. We were there visiting SuEllyn's cousin who lives about four miles from there.

We broke camp this morning in Seibert, Colorado, and headed pretty much due south on Colorado Highway 59. We hit a number of small farming towns along the way. There was almost no traffic on the road. We continued south on US 287 into the Oklahoma Panhandle. We stopped and had lunch in Lucy at Boise City, Oklahoma.
We continued south on US 287 into the Texas Panhandle. We arrived in Amarillo around five o'clock and got a campsite at Amarillo Ranch RV Park along I-40.
We got Lucy settled in and headed out to the Big Texan Steak Ranch for supper The Big Texan has been in Amarillo along Route 66 since 1960. The Big Texan is famous for offering a free 72 ounce steak to anyone who can eat it (along with a baked potato and a salad) in one hour. We did not have the 72 ounce steak, but had a really nice dinner in a fun atmosphere. If you are ever in Amarillo, you have to experience the Big Texan.
It was after dark by the time we got back to Lucy.

I watched a program on PBS about the dust bowl. Boise City and the surrounding area were the hardest hit. Hard times back then.

We headed out of Amarillo, Texas this morning, making our way south through the Texas countryside on US 287. We passed through a number of small towns, and we took the time to tour a number of them. We found two great vintage theatres in a couple of these towns, and a really spectacular county courthouse in Clarendon, Texas.
We arrived in the Fort Worth area early this evening. We found Lucy a nice campsite at the Texas RV Ranch in Mansfield, Texas.
Upon our arrival at the campground, SuEllyn noticed that Fred's left rear tire had gone flat. We were very fortunate at this didn't happen out on the highway. We have an air compressor with us. We put air in the tire and found that the valve stem had failed and was leaking air. We will get it repaired tomorrow. This may cause us to stay here another day.

Hi, I think Fred did that to himself [flat tire] on purpose; Lucy and Ethel have been working him too hard.

Just curious; was the valve stem OEM from Chevy, or was it an aftermarket mod?
You guys cover a lot more ground, faster than we do on our roadtrips. Do you have a planned itinerary and/or schedule?
Really enjoying the photos. Thanks for sharing!

No, it was not an OEM valve stem that malfunctioned. Fred got a new set of Michelins at 42,000 miles. At that time I had new valve stems installed. Fred now is approaching 76,000 miles.
Plan?? What Plan?? We just go where the wind and our mood takes us.

That building just below the Mulkey theater is amazing. I've been reading a book on architectural design, but I can't identify what style it is except "let's throw everything at it and see what we get".
Just arrived in Denver for a checkup with my surgeon; missed you by a couple of days.

Hey, Brian, do you and SuEllyn get to visit all the theaters you photograph on your travels? They are really interesting. It would be a cool thing so go inside each one that's still open and get a quick tour / see a show there.

Thanks for the thought. Wichita Falls was a bigger city than we thought. Even though we are both from big cities (Miami and Jacksonville), we prefer the more rural areas.

It's only about 105,000 but is a regional commerce area. That skyline dates back to the oil and ranching days and unfortunately probably 60 percent of those buildings are empty now

We have gotten a tour of a couple, but generally we don't get to see the inside. We have an interest in vintage architecture. We appreciate these old buildings and the time in our history that they represent. We especially appreciate vintage movie theatres because of the colorful facades, and the fact that they represent fun times of the past.

As you know, Fred arrived here wounded last night with a flat tire. This morning we had AAA out to put on his spare. We got him up to a local tire store in Mansfield, Texas where they repaired his tire and got him put back together. He is all set to go, but we decided to lay over here another day before heading to Houston.
We decided to go to a local restaurant in Arlington, Texas that was featured on "Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives" television show. We visited Chop House Burgers. We had really good hamburgers that were barely cooked (the way we like them). We came away full and satisfied.
We made our way back to Lucy with a short stop at Sam's Club to do some browsing. We got back to Lucy early to start packing her up.
We only had a couple of pictures at the campground today, so we included some from the last couple of days.
