Here are a few more pictures of the route through the North Cascades National Park that wouldn't fit in last night's post.

Wow!

As I see it, you guys are doing it right if scenery like this is available. Tow the AS to the next campground then take the truck/camper and explore.

Still it must have been really difficult to concentrate on the driving with all those great vistas.

We usually do the bulk of our touring sans Lucy. Yesterday, in the North Cascades National Park, we had Lucy in tow for the entire day. This roadway provides ample pull-outs that can accommodate a trailer and tow vehicle.

Brian and SuEllyn, glad to see you are documenting your trips again. I had missed them. I've been too busy to watch for this and just saw it today.

You are reminding me of places we have been before. We haven't been able to travel much lately and this vicarious trip makes me nostalgic and I hope we can get on the road again next year.

If you go back to Duluth, there's a municipal campground south of downtown overlooking the St. Louis R. Kind of hard to find, but lots of trees and good hookups. We liked Duluth and visited the very good railroad museum there, saw the lift bridge (a big deal in Duluth) and ate at some good restaurants. There were also good restaurants in Grand Marais. We camped along the Gunflint Trail at a commercial campground where I had to replace the wheel bearings on one wheel. Almost lost the wheel on the way, but were one mile from the campground and limped in. Had to get parts in Grand Marais and on the drive back, saw a moose on the Gunflint Trail. He made it clear it was his road, but he eventually and slowly went back into the trees and let us pass.

It rained in Ely and we had a leak from one of the fans, but I got it sealed at a tire dealer who had a long enough ladder to get on the roof. After than I bought a collapsible ladder.

On that same trip, about 5 years ago, we went into Canada and came back through western ND. There was no oil boom then and it was just wheat, hay and more wheat and hay. Twenty or 30 years from now, there will be lots of empty houses and businesses, dying towns and the oil will have played out. Then it will look like other areas picked over by a boom.

I dont think you can tow an RV over the Going to the Sun Hwy. it was restricted for many years. Not a good road for people like me with acrophobia. We went part way up the west side and I was sure the road would collapse off the side of the mountain. That's when I told Barb I was going to drive and turned around and went back down where I could breathe easier. So far as I know the road has not fallen off the side of that sheer face, but I know it will if I ever go back. I've driven many old mining roads in Colorado with sheer drops, but that highway got to me. Also thrilling were the 18 wheelers speeding down the road from a construction project at the summit.

I love your photos. You take pictures of the same things I do—old movie theaters, old buildings and weird things along the road. It is almost like being there.

I hope SuEllyn gets used to the 23'. I think it would be difficult (and expensive) to trade again. I wouldn't want to give up that 3' as we use every foot of our 25'. Not the first time I've read about a Hensley breaking. Maybe a ProPride would be a good upgrade.

I always thought "moosetags" meant you were tagging moose by seeing and photographing them. Now I see there's more to it— it is a business too. Will you have to tow a utility trailer full of tags and mailing envelopes?

Keep this up. I'm enjoying it.

Gene

Hi Gene. I thought that you had been around here long enough to know what Moose Tags were. We don't have to tow a extra trailer along to carry all the Moose Tags that we need. I wish that we did. We do have every spare inch of space in the Airstream and the Outfitter crammed with Moose Tags and mailing supplies. We usually ship two or three orders a day.

OK, now you've got my curiosity up... I thought "moose tags" were big game hunting permits. Evidently, that's not what they are, since Gene thinks you need an extra trailer to carry them around in; and you have a business that requires mailing supplies to ship them out.

I give up -- What are they? You aren't selling moose "cow pies" to tourists, like "pet rocks", are you?

You are going to have to know the secret handshake to get that kind of information. Or Brian could just tell you!

Maybe I can sell "moose pies". Great idea Phoenix. First I have to find a moose and feed him beans. Nature will make the pies. The mailing may be difficult.

Brian, I thought I knew what moose tags were. Have you seen any mooses?

Moose scat is actually like large rabbit pellets about a inch long. SuEllyn has a pair Moose scat earrings which are made from shellacked Moose pellets. She bought them at a shop in Jackman, Maine several years ago. She always wears them when she takes Moose Tags to a trade show.

As far as what Moose Tags are, you will just have to Google it.

Lucy is camped in Bellingham, Washington. When we got up this morning, it was raining. We decided to sleep in and take it easy today.

We both went out and got haircuts which were overdue. Even though it was still raining, we decided to do some touring. We drove up to Ferndale, Washington, where we stopped at the Post Office to get several shipments of Moose Tags mailed. From there we went north to Blaine to look around. The rain continued all day, but we made the best of it.

On the way back to Lucy we got some really nice chicken from the deli at Fred Meyers Supermarket. They opened a brand new store just a couple of blocks from the campground. We also got our Fred a nice tank full of diesel.

It is now 10:00 PM here, and it is pouring rain. Hopefully, tomorrow will be nicer.

Our local zoo has reindeer, and make jewelry every year out of the droppings to sell at Christmas.

They sell out, every year.

We broke camp in Bellingham this morning and headed south on I-5. We got Lucy a campsite in Bellevue, Washington, right outside of Seattle. We arrived early enough to take a little tour of downtown Seattle.

We got to see the Space Needle and some of the downtown sights. We then made our way over to Bellevue, Washington to visit the Bellevue Botanical Garden.

We went by the Safeway Supermarket and got some goodies for supper before heading back to Lucy.

No, we haven't yet (knock on wood). Our 2005 Suburban Quadrasteer now has 140,000 miles on it. Our son in Atlanta has our 2004 Suburban Quadrasteer. It now has 120,000 miles on and the rear wheel bearings are still intact and operational.

We also love our Quadrasteer, and hope that we don't run into this problem.

Congratulations on taking on Seattle. We've always avoided the big city traffic on our visits to the northwest, but we couldn't avoid the rain. It is the rainy season there, stay dry.

We found that a long bed crew cab pick-up is not exactly the ideal vehicle to use to tour downtown Seattle at rush hour. It was so much fun that we are going to do it again today.
