Hey, Brian, do you and SuEllyn get to visit all the theaters you photograph on your travels? They are really interesting. It would be a cool thing so go inside each one that's still open and get a quick tour / see a show there.

Brian and SuEllen, if I had known you were coming through Wichita Falls I would have recommended some great barbecue

Hi Gene,

That is the First National Bank on the town Square in Memphis, Texas.

Thanks for the thought. Wichita Falls was a bigger city than we thought. Even though we are both from big cities (Miami and Jacksonville), we prefer the more rural areas.

It's only about 105,000 but is a regional commerce area. That skyline dates back to the oil and ranching days and unfortunately probably 60 percent of those buildings are empty now

Over 100,000 is a big city in the Florida Panhandler.

We have gotten a tour of a couple, but generally we don't get to see the inside. We have an interest in vintage architecture. We appreciate these old buildings and the time in our history that they represent. We especially appreciate vintage movie theatres because of the colorful facades, and the fact that they represent fun times of the past.

As you know, Fred arrived here wounded last night with a flat tire. This morning we had AAA out to put on his spare. We got him up to a local tire store in Mansfield, Texas where they repaired his tire and got him put back together. He is all set to go, but we decided to lay over here another day before heading to Houston.

We decided to go to a local restaurant in Arlington, Texas that was featured on "Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives" television show. We visited Chop House Burgers. We had really good hamburgers that were barely cooked (the way we like them). We came away full and satisfied.

We made our way back to Lucy with a short stop at Sam's Club to do some browsing. We got back to Lucy early to start packing her up.

We only had a couple of pictures at the campground today, so we included some from the last couple of days.

We left Mansfield, Texas this morning and towed Lucy down to South Texas and got a really nice campsite at Westlake RV Park in Katy. We took Texas Highway 6 just about all the way, and stayed away from the Interstate. There were a couple of neat old towns along the way.

We are here to visit friends and will spend a couple of nights here.

Does anyone know what the structure is in the first picture?

The last picture is of the free dog wash at this campground. This is the first one that we have ever seen.

Welcome to Katy! Just wanted to say I continue to enjoy your travels.

If you have the opportunity and want some excellent BarBQ Pizzitola's in Houston can't be beat - of course everybody has an opinion on whose's is best. Enjoy our current weather - this is as good as it gets. Travel safe.

Brian I believe that structure was an early attempt to increase cellular coverage at a campground nearby....or maybe not...

We've been enjoying your trip. It's safe to come home now it's cooling off down here in Alabama and Florida.

Been following the trip. Thanks for the posts and the campgrounds you were at. Hope to do most of the same ourselves in a few years. Wave as you go by we're right off the Dairy Ashford exit on I-10 if your heading east.

Lucy is still camped in Katy, Texas today. After getting some shipments of Moose Tags out at the Katy Post Office, we went over to visit our friends. We went out with them for a tour of Katy. We saw several historic buildings that had been moved to city property so that they could be preserved.

We went out to dinner with our friends, and had a very nice visit. We returned to Lucy to get her ready to move.
