Lucy's Balloon Adventure
That's right! Lucy is preparing for a big western trip that will include the 4CU Hot Air Balloon Fiesta Rally in Albuquerque.
We have had Lucy at the house for the last month getting her ready for the big trip. In addition to the usual shampoo, tick dip, and toe nail clip, we have added a couple of new upgrades. We have installed new EZ Snap exterior window shades on several of Lucy's windows. SuEllyn built a new microwave/printer cabinet that we have installed next to the refer. This also serves as expanded counter space.
We are planning to go to the Big Horn National Forest in Wyoming and then on to the Park City, Utah, area for some serious Moose watching. Then on to Rocky Mountain NP in Colorado. From there, we will head to Albuquerque for the Balloon Fiesta.
We had originally planned to leave last Thursday (09/04), but we decided to put off departure until Hurricane Ike decided what he was going to do. We now plan to depart tomorrow.

WOOOHOOO ROAD TRIP I wanna go! Keep those of us at home up to date as you go
I love the Big Horns and this time of year is bound to be nice. There is so much to see and do in the Big Horns: crazy woman creek, ten sleep canyon, neat neat neat! Here is a scan of a print from my first trip there in 2003. I'm so envious I could burst

Ditto, ditto, ditto everything Rodney raved about in the above post. We loved the Big Horns, and especially Ten Sleep. The Crazy Woman Mts are high and beautiful. Enjoy all of the trip, and keep posting for those of us stuck at home this fall! ~G

Hey, Moosies, maybe our paths will cross. We are on our way back from Alaska and will be in northern Wyoming by the weekend. Then it is on toward home in Texas.

Congratulations on the new camera, Nikon makes a great product and the D80 will serve you well on your trip. What lens(es) did you get to play with?

Perhaps we'll run into you - a random shot, anyway. We're heading west but will not make the balloon fest rally this year. Had a great time last year, and it'll be something you won't forget.
I noticed you left some airspace in the back of your truck. I bet if you consult with Lewster (he'll be at the rally) he'll offer some sardine-packing suggestions.

Brian;
Hope to see you at the Balloon Fiesta. Drive safe and enjoy the Big Horns and Northern Wyoming. Spent many a year up in that country while growing up.

You're almost guaranteed to see moose in the Bighorns. I took this shot last summer just around the corner from the fallen city on 14 (on the Sheridan side).
I'm looking forward to reading your updates.

Lucy got off at 9:30 this morning. That's early for us. We took US 331 up to Montgomery, Alabama. Then we took I-65 on to Nashville, Tennessee. We did 475 miles, Daisy and Lucy performed flawlessly.
We're at the KOA near Opryland. Nice, but a little pricey. I guess that's to be expected near a big attraction. We're going to visit friends here in Nashville tomorrow, and continue to Wyoming on Thursday.

A bunch of us who are headed East across I-40 are spending the night before the Fiesta at the KOA in Grants New Mexico. Not sure what your plans are, but something to consider. We will all meet up on Friday morning at the rally point. That most likely will be the Camping World on I-40 just West of I-25. Getting a place any where close to Albuquerque that night will be almost impossible with out reservations.
