Where do you get your cleaning crew - can you order one online, or is there some type of app? I need one of them more than anything else!

I enjoy following your travels.

Lucy is still camped out in Westwego. We drove Lillian into New Orleans this morning and did some touring around the inner city areas. We met our son and daughter-in-law for lunch at Liuzza's by the Track on Lopez Street and Ponce de Leon Avenue. Liuzza's is off the beaten path in a residential neighborhood near the New Orleans Fairgrounds. This is not a place that tourists would normally find. Our son is a New Orleans Policeman of 24 years and our daughter-in-law is a local Assistant District Attorney. They know the best restaurants. We had poor boy sandwiches and gumbo. Our son assured us that this is the best gumbo in the city. It was really good.

After lunch, we toured a bed and breakfast that was created from a 1902 New Orleans Police Station on St. Philip Street. We spent the rest of the afternoon looking around.

We went back to our son and Daughter-in-law's house for dinner. We got back to Lucy after dark.

Tonight's Pictures Include:

- Crossing Mississippi River Bridge into Downtown New Orleans.
- Downtown New Orleans Skyline.
- Canal Line Street Car.
- Decorative New Orleans Street Sign post.
- Architecturally significant House.
- Liuzza's by the Track Restaurant.
- 1902 New Orleans Police Station.
- Decorated New Orleans shotgun house.
- Old Charity Hospital, Downtown New Orleans.
- St Charles Line Street Car.

Great pictures. Brings back memories. I grew up north or New Orleans. Always loved driving past the USS Alabama en route to the beaches. Walking the battleship is fun. Was in New Orleans this March before visiting family. Proud to have stayed at that old charity building during school many years ago. Love the shotgun and creole homes in the city.

Good Morning Ron,

Lucy's cleaning crew is working on getting a sleeping spot in the Airstream for next summer's big trip. They will be eight and seven then, and may be old enough to handle a cross country, 60 day excursion. Their parents have agreed to fly out and get them if the trip runs into school time. We hope that we are not biting off more than we can chew.

We have spent another day in New Orleans touring around the area. It was a hot day here. It got up to 96 degrees this afternoon. We started the day by visiting a fish flea market in Westwego. There were about 50 different vendors selling all kinds of sea life, but it was mostly craw fish and shrimp. We then headed out to the West End area on Lake Pontchartrain. We visited New Canal Lighthouse at the entrance to the harbor.

We took a quick tour of the French Quarter on our way to our son and daughter-in-laws house for dinner. We got back to Lucy earlier tonight to start getting things ready for tomorrow morning's departure.

Tonight's pictures include:

- Fish Flea Market.
- Sail boat entering harbor at West End.
- Lakefront at West End.
- Houses where folks live above their boat dock.
- New Canal Lighthouse.
- Conti Street in the French Quarter.
-Looking down Bourbon Street.

Lucy broke camp in New Orleans this morning. We were actually on the road a little before
9:00 o'clock. We made our way up to I-10, and continued west through Baton Rouge and the rest of Louisiana. We made into Texas and onward to Conroe mostly on back roads. We got Lucy a campsite at Thousand Trails RV Park on Lake Conroe. We have stopped here primarily to visit our friends, John and Julie, who have a house here on Lake Conroe.

We visited with our friends and went out to dinner at a local restaurant. We are now relaxing in Lucy before bed.

Tonight's pictures include:

- Approaching the Mississippi River Bridge on I-10 in Baton Rouge.
- Downtown Baton Rouge with the Capitol in the center.
- Interesting tracked vehicle on a flat bed along I-10.
- Tall bridge on I-10 in Lake Charles, Louisiana.
- Texas Welcome Station on I-10.
- Lucy and Lillian relaxing at the rest area.
- New Exxon refinery under construction near Beaumont, Texas.

Great photos once again, thanks! We stopped in a KOA near New Orleans back in the 90's during our NYC/San Diego/Napa winter round trip, and tried to grill Boudin on a hot BBQ. Whoops!

At least the remaining pieces tasted good.

Happy trails,

Peter

Lucy is still camped in Conroe, Texas. This morning we went over to our friends' house. We got a grand tour of Lake Conroe on our friends' boat. It was a very enjoyable excursion, and we got to see a lot of Lake Conroe.

We later drove into Conroe to mail some Moose Tags. We toured around downtown. Conroe is an interesting and picturesque little town with many historic buildings.

We went back to Lucy to relax for a little while before heading over to John and Julie's lake house for supper. We said our farewells and headed back to Lucy to plan tomorrow's departure.

Tonight's pictures include:

- Our friends' lake house.
- Lighthouse on Lake Conroe.
- Paddle wheel river boat on Lkae Conroe.
- Downtown Conroe, Texas.
- The 1934 Crighton Theatre in Downtown Conroe.
- Downtown commercial building in Conroe.
- Oil well bench on courthouse grounds.
- Original doors to 1936 Montgomery County Courthouse in Conroe.
- Original light fixture inside the Montgomery County Courthouse.
- Original art deco aluminum stair rail inside the courthouse.

Nice shots of the Art Deco architectural details at the bottom; you have a great eye. According to Wikipedia, in the 1930's Conroe had the highest concentration of millionaires in Texas, per capita, due to oil money. Combined with the WPA, there was plenty of fuel for constructing amazing buildings then. Apparently the Conroe PO had a great "Early Texans" mural, which was destroyed in a fire. Thanks for finding the surviving reminders of that era.

Peter

PS -- Here is a study for that PO mural, now in The Smithsonian, by Nicholas Lyon:

https://americanart.si.edu/artwork/e...t-office-15319

FWIW Buck Winn was apparently another renowned public artist of that time, who may have surviving works located along your path:

What a great trip! We did the same route a week ago—except we live on the west side of Lake Conroe and headed east to Santa Rosa Beach. Waited out the tropical/subtropical storm at Bayou Segnette for a couple nights.

Safe travels on the rest of your trip!!!

Great trip so far. I enjoy following along on your trips. Always good pictures and story. We have a son in Baton Rouge, so we are getting to know the area on some weekend trips. Looking forward to tracking down the best gumbo in New Orleans!
Thanks for taking us along.

We put off the commencement of our big trip for about a week to wait out Alberto in Santa Rosa Beach.

Looks like you're having a great trip.

I like the topper on your new truck.

I especially like the side opening doors instead of windows like most toppers have.
Would you tell me the brand and model of it?

Thank you and enjoy the summer

Lucy broke camp this morning in Conroe, Texas, and headed out toward San Antonio. We took the back roads, primarily Texas 105. We saw a lot of beautiful Texas countryside, and neat little towns along our route. This form of road travel sure beats the hassles of the Interstates, especially when towing a trailer.
As we approached the San Antonio area, we were forced onto I-35 and I-10. Of course, we arrived just in time for rush hour and there were a couple of fender benders to make the trip all the more exciting. To make it extra special, Lillian's outside temperature indicator was showing 107 degrees. We finally made our way to Top of the Hill RV Park in Boerne, Texas at about 6:30. We got Lucy settled into her campsite, and headed out to visit our friends, Charlie and Barbara, over in Helotes. After a short visit, we went back to Lucy and got settled in for the night.

Tonight's pictures include:

- Lucy ready to roll this motning.
- A last look at Lake Conroe.
- Texas 105 sign.
- Vintage Bus Depot in Brenham, Texas.
- 1925 Simon Theatre in Brenham.
- Lucy at Buc-ee's in Bastrop, Texas.
- The 100 yard long Buc-ee's store in Bastrop.

Lillian's topper is a Swiss Cap. They are made in Patriot, Indiana. Their website is www.swisscaps.cc. This is a very good product. Here are a few more pictures.
