We do kind of both. Our traveling routine on most nights is to use the the rvparky and/or Passport America apps on our phones to locate a campground where we would like to stop. We call the campground to see if they have a spot for us.
This method has always worked for us. Our Airstream travel is somewhat spontaneous. We are now in the Eugene, Oregon area to visit with relatives. We will leave here tomorrow, but have not yet decided where we are going next.

Where to go Next?
Brian,
If you decide to continue your travels northward, you could visit Silver Falls State Park, home to a CCC era Lodge and the Trail of Ten Falls outside of Silverton OR. And, you could stay at our farm outside Mount Angel. You could fill your tanks with the best tasting water to be found! Park at our place before going up to the Falls.

Lucy is still camped in Creswell, Oregon. Today we spent most of the day doing laundry. SuEllyn's cousin, Mickie, was kind enough to offer us the use of her washer and dryer. After being on the road for 40 days, we did need to do some laundry. We did make a run out to do some shopping at Costco and Wal-Mart. The only pictures that we took today were of a really neat little electric car that was parked in the Costco parking lot.
We had a very nice steak dinner at Mickie and Rick's house. We bid our farewells and got back to Lucy shortly before dark.
Tonight's pictures are of the little electric car at Costco. She even has long eyelashes.

Thank you again for your generous offer, but we have decided to head back to the Oregon coast. SuEllyn's nephew is a member of the US Coast Guard in North Bend, Oregon. He has been out of town and will return to the Coos Bay Area Thursday evening. We plan to spend some time with him this weekend. Thank you again.

Lucy broke camp this morning in Creswell, Oregon. We were late leaving the campground as we were waiting for a prescription to be filled at Wal-Mart. At 10:30 we called and they had it ready. Lucy was on the road by 11:00. After the stop at Wal-Mart, we headed out of Eugene on Oregon 126 toward the coast. The 80 mile run over to the Ocean was a beautiful drive through the Oregon forest. We arrived in Florence, Oregon in the mid afternoon. We able to get Lucy a very nice wooded campsite at the campground in Honeyman State Park. We got Lucy settled into her campsite and went out to see some of the sights in Florence.
We drove out to the oceanfront in Florence. It was very windy this afternoon, but the sights were worth seeing. We made a quick stop at Safeway for some victuals from the deli counter. We retired to Lucy for a nice dinner followed by a walk through the campground. We have now settled into Lucy for the night.
Tonight's pictures include:
- Lucy and Lillian ready to go at the Creswell campground.
- Oregon 126 out of Eugene.
- Under mountain tunnel on Oregon 126.
- The girls relaxing at the campground in Florence.
- Dunes across the inlet.
- Para sailors along the ocean.
- Friendly Oregon DOT guys that gave us a lot of information.
- Commercial fishing boat coming back to port.
- Dunes overlooking the ocean.
- the 1936 Siuslaw River Bridge at Florence, Oregon.

Hey Brian
We are headed that way in August and will be following this portion of your thread. Are you finding decent state park site availability?

Lucy is still camped at Honeyman State Park in Florence, Oregon. We drove up to Heceta Head Lighthouse, about 20 miles north of Florence. We took the half mile hike up to the Lighthouse. It was worth the trip as the Lighthouse is impressive and the view to the cove below was spectacular. We continued north on US 101 and visited the beach at Washburne State Park.
Late this afternoon we returned to Florence. We had a really nice dinner at a small restaurant in Old Town Florence. We looked around the Port of Siuslaw before heading back to Lucy for the night.
Tonight's pictures include:
- The beach below the Heceta Head Lighthouse.
- Light Keeper Residence at Heceta Head.
- Cove below the lighthouse.
- Heceta Head Lighthouse.
- Path to ocean at Washburne State Park.
- Beach at Washburne State Park.
- Spectacular beach view from US 101.
- Port of Siuslaw at Florence.

This is the first Oregon State Park that we have camped in. Oregon uses Reserve America for their reservations. We called the park and they told us that they did have some open sites. We took a chance and did a drive up. We got a nice site for 3 days.

We came back to Florence early and had a great dinner at the Bridgewater Fish House in Old Town. We came back to Lucy to settle in for the night.
Tonight's pictures include:
- Dune beach on Lake Cleawox.
- Beach across the lake.
- 1938 CCC Building at Lake Cleawox.
- Berries along the lake. Does anyone know what they are?
- Oceanfront near Reedsport.
- Bridge into Reedsport.
- Railroad bridge on the Smith River in Reedsport.
- Old Airstream in lot in Reeedsport.

Those look like black twinberry. I think it comes from a honeysuckle type of plant and it's kind of bitter. Don't think it's a pick and eat berry, at least not for people.
(Of course somebody else will chime in and say they make a wonderful jelly out of it every year :-)

This morning Lucy broke camp at Honeyman State Park in Florence. We drove back south on US 101 to Coos Bay, Oregon. We came to Coos Bay to visit with SuEllyn's nephew, RJ, who is a member of the U.S. Coast Guard here in Coos Bay. We got Lucy a campsite at Lucky Loggers RV Park and got her settled in.
RJ met us at the RV Park. He took us on a tour of some of the scenic beaches in the area. With RJ as our guide, we hiked several trails along the oceanfront. We saw some spectacular ocean views. We went by RJ's house for a short visit before heading back to Lucy for the night.
Tonight's pictures include:
- The 1925 Tioga Hotel in Downtown Coos Bay.
- Beach scene.
- Cove along the oceanfront.
- Rocks along the beach.
- Another cove.
- Cape Arago Lighthouse.
- A nice beach scene.
- Group of sea lions.
- Ocean scene.
- Spectacular ocean panorama.

Thanks for the tip. We went by Monkey Business for lunch today. SuEllyn had the burger and I got the fish and chips. Both were great. It wasn't easy to find, but worth the effort.

Lucy is still camped in Coos Bay, Oregon. We toured around Coos Bay and North Bend today. We had lunch at a Food truck down on the fishing docks. We walked around Downtown Coos Bay and checked out a number of the shops. We went over into adjacent North Bend and toured its downtown area.
We met SuEllyn's nephew, RJ, for dinner at Seven Devils Brewing Company in Downtown Coos Bay. We had a nice dinner and relaxing visit. We made our way back to Lucy and got settled in for the night.
Tonight's pictures include:
- Coos Bay fishing fleet.
- The1909 Chandler Hotel in Downtown Coos Bay.
- The 1914 Hub Department Store in Down town Coos Bay.
- A tall ship visiting Coos Bay Harbor.
- Baby seagull spotted in his nest in the top of a dock piling.
- The 1923 Coos Bay National Bank Building.
- The 1936 Coos Bay Bridge.
- The 1936 North Bend neon welcome sign.
- North Bend has some really steep streets.
- The 1922 Hotel North.

Tank you for the information. We had not planned on eating any of these, but were curious as we had not seen anything like them before.
