I was a day late in catching up. I would have recommended Chief Joseph Highway also. It's also beautiful, and just as fun to drive. Maybe next time. The Bear Tooth is beautiful, that's for sure. Might have been a few motorcycles along the way, it's on every riders list of "bucket list" rides. I've been over it three times.

Thank you for the tip. We have ridden the Chief Joseph Highway, but it has probably been about ten years.

We just got photos from Swiss Cap of Fred's completed truck cap. It appears to be just as specified. Note the roof vent at rear center and the cable hatch on the back liftgate.

That looks very nicely done and very well built. Fred is probably anxiously awaiting the topper as he likely feels a bit naked back there.

Fred and I are both anxious to get the new cap, especially since it has been completed. We are still several weeks out from picking it up, but the excitement is building.

Lucy is still camped in Red Lodge, Montana. We had a very easy day today. We started by getting up late. We hung around Lucy all morning. Some bills were paid. Some travel plans were made. Some on-line research was done on places to visit.
We spent most of the afternoon wandering around downtown Red Lodge looking at the various historic buildings on Broadway. Many of these buildings date back to the turn of the 20th Century. We stopped for an early supper at the Red Lodge Pizza Company on Broadway. The pizza was excellent. If you are ever in Red lodge and want pizza, this is the place.
We went back to Lucy early and spent the evening sitting at Lucy's picnic table watching the new campers check in. We found this very entertaining. As darkness fell, it got much cooler, and snuggled into Lucy for the night.
Tonight's pictures include:
- Lucy at her campsite
- Old Park Theatre in Red Lodge.
- The 1894 Pollard Hotel on Broadway in Red Lodge.
- The 1895 Red Lodge Bank Building.
- The 1900 Reiman Building.
- City Bakery neon sign.
- The 1917 Roman Theatre.
- Private home on Broadway.
- Red Lodge Pizza Company.
- The 1899 Carbon County Courthouse.

Lucy broke camp this morning in Red Lodge, Montana. She made her way into Wyoming via various state highways. We arrived in Cody in the mid afternoon, and made a stop at the Cody Wal-Mart. We got a few things and had lunch in Lucy.
We continued out to our friends' ranch which is about 15 miles outside of Cody. We arrived at Larry and Mary Ann's ranch. Lucy got hooked up to the RV hook-ups on the ranch.
Larry and Mary Ann cooked some great steaks. We had a great dinner and turned in early.
Tonight's pictures include:
- Old Smith Mine, Bearcreek, Montana.
- Bearcreek Saloon where the pig races start at 7:00.
- Old store in Bearcreek.
- Old Pepsi sign and 1951 Pontiac.
- Old Building in Bearcreek.
- Entering Wyoming.
- Field of Sunflowers.
- Cody Wal-Mart.
- Lucy settled in at the ranch.

Been enjoying your adventure while longing to start our next journey in two weeks! One of our favorite "boon-docking" sites is at my sister's house overlooking Lake Alexander in Wisconsin. They also provide us a 30 Amp RV plug-in! We try to not overstay our welcome, but will be returning there again for a long weekend on our next trip. Our parents used to frequent that same "boon-docking" spot, better known as "their favorite RV campsite". Its really enjoyable to visit friends and family with an Airstream and still have your own space. We return the favor to our family by offering a 30 Amp RV plug-in at our house in FL.

Hi Brian, thanks for all the pictures. It looks like you have light smoke/haze near Cody, is that right? Have you encountered any really bad air quality on this trip?
We plan on heading north soon, crossing Wyoming and Montana, ending up in Jasper. We looked at some Banff webcams a few days ago and decided to not go there until the air clears (today looks better there). I hope you haven't been getting choked.

It has been hazy throughout our visit in Wyoming and Montana, but we have not smelled any fire smoke yet. Several other campers told us it would be best not to get north and west of Bozeman. We had planned to visit the National Bison Refuge, but have now put it off for now.

Lucy is still camped on Larry and Mary Ann's Ranch near Cody, Wyoming. We spent the morning around the Ranch. After lunch, we headed out to tour the mountains south of Cody. It was a beautiful drive through the Wyoming countryside. We took Fred into Cody to get him some fuel. We made it back to the Ranch at about 5:30, and enjoyed bison burgers on the grill.
After dinner, we got snuggled into Lucy for the night.
Tonight's pictures include:
- Ranch House.
- Lucy's view on the Ranch.
- Another Ranch view.
- View of Lucy on the Ranch from two ridges over.
- Prong Horn Sheep along the mountain.
- Road winding its way into the Mountains.
- Cowboys bringing horses along the road.
- Another mountain view.
- Castle Rock.

We are going to stay here in Cody through the Eclipse on Monday. We will head out on Tuesday, and go back up into Montana. We will cross North Dakota taking in the sights along the way. We have another friend with their own RV hook-ups in Lake George, Minnesota. We will probably stop there for a few days before continuing on.
We also have 30 amp RV service at our house. We use it mostly for Lucy who serves as additional guest quarters when the need arises.

Lucy is still camped at the ranch. We spent the morning visiting with Larry and Mary Ann. This afternoon we went into Cody so that SuEllyn could get a prescription at Wal-Mart. We then went west from Cody on US 16 toward Yellowstone National Park. We went almost all of the way to the Park before heading back to the Ranch. We all drove over to Burlington, Wyoming for a nice pizza dinner at the Burlington Place.
We got back to the Ranch after dark and got settled into Lucy for the night.
Tonight's pictures include:
- A very old travel trailer on the road into Cody.
- One of the US 16 tunnels.
- Onside the long tunnel.
- Buffalo Bill Cody Dam west of Cody.
- Shoshone River on the downside of the Dam.
- Reservoir behind the Dam.
- Rock formations on the Road to Yellowstone.
- Even Smokey the Bear is ready for the Eclipse.
- More unusual rock formations.
- The road to Burlington, Wyoming.

Lucy is still camped in Cody. We spent the morning visiting with Larry and Mary Ann. We stayed at the Ranch for the Eclipse which occurred her at about 11:40 this morning. We had Eclipse glasses to take a quick look. We tried to take some photos with the Nikon SLR, but there was nothing worth keeping.
We drove into Cody for lunch and sent some Moose Tags out from the Post Office. We toured around Cody for awhile before heading back to the Ranch.
We started getting Lucy ready for travel. We plan to head out tomorrow. We will start back east as there are too many forest fires to the west.
We went out to supper with Larry and Mary Ann to Wyoming's Rib and Chophouse in Downtown Cody. The food was good and a good time was had by all.
We got back to Lucy as darkness fell and got settled in for the night.
Tonight's pictures include:
- Lucy and Fred relaxing at the Ranch.
- Small historic log cabin on an adjacent ranch.
- The old WPA Cody Post Office.
- Sheridan Street in Downtown Cody.
- The historic Irma Hotel in Downtown Cody was originally opened by Buffalo Bill Cody in 1902.
- A giant rifle is the sign for this gun shop.
- The 1936 Cody Theatre on Sheridan Street.
- On of the nice historic homes in Cody, Wyoming.
Love, SuEllyn and Brian

Thanks for the update and fine photos. And thanks for noting the WPA PO, and the 1936 date of the Cody Theater sign. As suggested about earlier posts and photos, there was apparently quite a wave of building in the area in the recovery after the crash of '29.
I found this great book FYI, although you may not be in Wyoming for much longer, I guess:
http://wyoshpo.state.wy.us/pdf/BuildingUpWyoming.pdf
The table of contents is a general guide, but unfortunately the index seems to have been dropped from this online version. It would be nice to look up the Sheridan info.. From a quick glance, it looks like the entire region experienced quite a boom in oil exploration. Nice old map on p. 30 [PDF p. 42/268]. Beartooth Highway post card on PDF p. 69.
It is amazing how dry the Cody area is according to the chart in Wikipedia, as the mountains to the west trap most of the precip coming in from the NW:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cody,_Wyoming
Safe travels as you head east. Any notion of going up into Canada?
Thanks again for taking us along for the ride!
Peter
PS -- Does the Cody Theater sign have neon bulbs as part of its design? [Or maybe once had neon?] It would be amazing at night illuminated IMO.
