Hi, I have been doing a lot of computer searches on some of the forum members and I found a few really old pictures of Brian.

Sounds like Fred & Ethel will complement Lucy just fine. I'll bet your generators are named Little Ricky and Desi and the kayak is Mrs. Trumbull??

Hi Brian,
Nice pictures. I like the German truck camper. It looks like a 20' ISO standard military command post module mounted on the truck. What a cool ride!
I showed the pictures to the wife. She wants to go to Utah now! That would be cool, because that is where Abby was bought by the original owner back in '72!

Robert, little do you know how accurate you are. In the late 60's and early 70's I was a Motorcycle Officer on the City of Tallahassee Police Department. I regularly worked US 27 on the east side of town. US 27 was a 4 lane divided highway where the speed limit went from 70 MPH to 45 MPH where it crossed the city limits. This made for easy pickings. It was like shooting fish in a barrel. I did actually conceal myself behind a billboard with lattice on the bottom at Victory Gardens Drive and Apalachee Parkway (US 27). Southbound traffic would honk and wave at me as they went by as I lay in wait for the northbound traffic headed into town. That was a very special time in my life. Actually, the Honda 2000's already have names. They are Amos and Leon. The names really help telling them apart.

Make sure you go to Moab. There are more cool vehicles there than anywhere else I have ever seen.

Lucy relaxed at the campsite while we headed out in Olivia and made a visit to Zion National Park. It was somewhat disappointing that we could not drive through the Park. We had to take the government bus to the trail head that we wanted to hike. What a crock!

We did find a parking place for Olivia near the Visitor Center. This was a lucky break as there were no spots available when we got there. We donned our hiking gear and climbed on the bus. The ride was OK and we got to Emerald Pools Trail. We did the one mile hike into the pools. They were neither emerald nor pools. Brown puddles would be more accurate. We made our way back to the bus stop, where we caught the bus back to the visitor center where Olivia was parked. We were glad to see the maroon girl for our rescue from this national park

We got out of our hiking gear and headed back to St. George. We were glad to see Lucy tonight. We began the process of breaking camp as are heading to Fabulous LasVegas in the morning.

In the last week we have seen so many class C rental RV that are rented by El Monte RV, SuEllyn and I now refer to all class C's as as El Monte(s), rental or otherwise.

Gene, she hasn't, but probably could. She recently rebuilt the brakes and put a new exhaust system on our 1958 BMW Isetta.

Hi, we also took the bus last time we were there. The three Emerald pools hike was not for me. We went to see the first and second mud puddles and no way was I going to go to the top on. The bus driver said that the path to the top was loose dirt, three feet wide, and with a 60' drop off on one side and a 90' drop off on the other side. I certainly wasn't going to risk my life to see another mud puddle and that's exactly what they were when we were there.

Sorry to hear Zion didn't work out so well for you. We timed our trip there and the Grand Canyon to avoid the busses and crowds, but better the bus than nothing. Some parks are so crowded that it is stop and go driving and not at all pleasing.

Now that you are in Vegas, the drive up and down the Strip can be stop and go, but there's plenty of strange things to look at. We stayed at the KOA next to Circus Circus—basically a parking lot, but convenient. We wandered through some casinos, saw the dancing fountains and watched people lose money. Seeing Hoover Dam was more interesting. Given that it is Vegas, you just might see a moose somewhere.

We noted the same quantity of rental class "C"s last year as we toured the same area....we just refered to them as "uh oh's"....many of them were 30 mph below the limit or driving on the shoulder/across the centerline...

We call them "rent me's" and they are fun to watch as they back into a narrow space in a campground unless they are right next to you. Sometimes I have to teach them how to use a dump station or hook up. They should have strobe lights all over them with a full complement of pilot cars.

We saw dozens of rental class Cs with european tourists. And more 4WD vehicles in Moab than i have ever seen.

That ended, AND there was a limit of 55mph imposed, BUT if you were caught "wasting a natural resource-speeding, the fine was 5 dollars. It did not go on your driving record, there was no limit on the number of 5 dollar fines you could get, and you could just give the patrolman your 5 dollars and continue on your way. It was Montana's way of refuting a national speed limit.
I know this to be true, as I always carried several 5 dollar bills with me, and always slowed down when I went into Wyoming.

Lucy broke camp this morning in St. George , Utah, and headed toward Las Vegas. We crossed a small portion of Arizona, and into Nevada. We gained another hour as we crossed into the Pacific Time Zone.

We arrived in Las Vegas fairly early in the day and got settled in at the Circus Circus KOA on the Strip (Las Vegas Boulevard). We took a walk over to the casino and had a look around. We then took a driving tour of the Strip and Fremont Street in Downtown Las Vegas. We made a stop at the world famous "Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas" sign on the south end of the Strip.

Oh man.. missed you by a week. Would have like to have met you guys..
We stayed there a couple years ago. I think it was $99 per night and never cooled below 85 degrees even into the wee hours of the night. I think there were a few airstreams staged around that place that you could rent aswell.

That's too bad. It would have been nice to meet up. The price is a little better. We got a site for $60/night and the 4th night is free. That gets it down to $45/night. I guess that's not too bad to be on the Strip. It's not at all crowded which kind of surprises me on this Memorial day Weekend. They only have two of the static 27FB's left. I guess they sold the others. We haven't seen either of them occupied since we've been here.

It been a little bit hot, but not too bad. The wind has been blowing pretty steadily at about 40 MPH. Every time I open Lucy's door, it yanks me down the steps. We have been out on the Strip and in the casinos. What a cross section of humanity. There are some real characters here. We ahve been here several times before, but it seems more bizarre, if that is possible.

Hi, that sounds more like a decent price now; I heard it was over $100.00 per night there. We camp at the Las Vegas RV Resort for about $45.00 per night. it is out of the madness, but close enough to drive to the strip and do what we want. The only people there that get on my nerves are those sidewalk card slappers. They have some girlie picture cards and as you walk past them they step in front of you or very close and slap those cards in their hands to get your attention. I want to step up and slap them when they do that, but my wife won't let me.

We will probably not stay here again, but we wanted to try being right on the Strip once. It is kind of nice just walk over to all the activity, and partake of the craziness for a few minutes, and be able to retreat to Lucy quickly.

Lucy stayed on the Strip in Las Vegas, and we headed out into the boon docks north of town to visit Valley of Fire State Park which in about 40 miles north of Las Vegas.

We spent most of the day there taking in all the sights. We found this Nevada State Park to be more fun and interesting than Zion National Park. First off, there was hardly anyone there. A far cry from Zion which was mobbed, and the busy season hasn't even begun. This is Nevada's oldest and largest state park. It was opened in 1935. The park is loaded with interesting rock formations and geologic wonders.

There are numerous locations within the park where you can view early native American Petroglyphs (ancient wall drawings). There are many arched rock formations throughout the park. We took a 2 mile hike into Mouse's Tank. This is a natural water holding bowl in the rock that maintains water for months in the dry season. It was the hideout of a renegade Indian named Mouse who was finally captured by the US Army at this location in 1890. We also visited Elephant Rock which is a natural arch formation that looks like an elephant and his trunk. It does require a bit of imagination, but it is definitely an elephant.

We exited the Park on the east side and drove back to Las Vegas along the shores of Lake Mead, the giant meandering lake that was formed by the Hoover Dam. By the time we got back to Lucy, it was already dark.
