The truck campers are amazingly spacious inside, we have been in a couple. Whatever makes travel better......

Looks like you're having a great trip.

There's a pretty good pizza restaurant on the main street on the west side. It may be at Center or Central. The outside siding is wood planks.

John,

We are at the OK RV Park, 3310 Spanish Valley Drive, Moab. Are you here somewhere? I have never seen so many RV parks and RV's in one place in my life. My cell is 850-830-9444.

Brian;

No. I'm at home. We stayed at a park just outside of town that was pretty bad 3 years ago. I was hoping you were not making the same mistake. It seems you are not.

Moab, Utah

Lucy broke camp at Grand Junction, Colorado, this morning, and headed west into Utah. It was a fairly short driving day, and we got to the campground Moab fairly early. This gave us a chance to look around town for a bit and give Olivia a bath which was sorely needed.

When we got back to the campground, there was the cutest little trailer camped next to Lucy. It is called an Oxygen, and was made in Canada for only one year, 2002. We met the owners and had a tour of their trailer. They were from Quebec.

This campground also has a special section for people traveling with horses. Lucy is camped pretty close to the equine section. We think that Lucy likes being near the horses.

In case you were wondering...

SuEllyn and Brian: Thanks for your photos and explainations of your trip. Believe it or not I look forward to coming home from work and reading what you did during the day or the day before. Thanks.

In case you were wondering what the new camper (Ethyl) looks like mounted on (Fred), I saw this today in La Jolla, CA and thought you might get a kick out of it. I would suspect yours will look like this. What didn't show up on the photo is this rig had been somewhere over the weekend because it had a lot of mud on it. The owner wasn't around so I couldn't ask questions.

Sounds like the RV Park just south of town. Moab is a wonderful place to visit with so many things to see and do. The city market in town is a good place to shop and they have a Starbucks which is always a plus for us.

Which way are you headed next?

Thank you so much for the photo, Randy. That will pretty much be Ethel and Fred. That looks like an Apex 8, except Fred will be a long bed so the won't be any overhang. I'm glad that you're enjoying Lucy's adventures.

You've got it, Richard. Lucy is camped at the OK RV Park on the south side of town. We are probably going to lay in here for another day or two. From here we would like to head up to the Bighorn National Forest in Wyoming. If the weather isn't suitable yet, we may head down to Escalante for a few days.

Lucy is still camped in Moab, Utah. We did some housekeeping chores this morning before heading out into the wilderness.

When we stopped to gas up Olivia in town, we ran across the king of truck campers. It was a giant all terrain truck. The owners live in Germany, and had their truck camper shipped over here to tour the United States. We took several pictures of this unique vehicle.

We continued out south of town to a mountain hiking trail in Utah's red rock country. Along the way, we saw several groups climbing the vertical face of red rock mountains. We stopped to watch for a few minutes. We were quite impressed as we watched the climbers make their way up the mountain.

We hiked the Corona Arch Trail. It was a 3 mile round trip, the first half of which was pretty much straight up. At a couple of point along the trail, we had to use cables and ladders to make it up the grade. At the end of the trail was the Corona Arch and several other interesting rock formations. The scenery along the trail was spectacular. We had the hiking trail pretty much to ourselves. To be out by ourselves in this spectacular wildness was an adventure. These mountain trails are marked with cairns which are little piles of rocks. Many hikers add to these piles as they move along the trail.

We made it back to Lucy just before dark where we dined large on microwave dinners and snuggled in for the night.

Hey Brian, good trip report…thanx for sharing.

FYI (don’t want you to get flamed over on the TC forum!) that is not really a “Truck Camper”…rather referred to as an Expo or Overland vehicle…
Typically, Unimogs/Mans/Fuso/etc are hard mounted to the chassis and not (readily) removable.
Truck campers must be removable to be classified as such.

You must be psyched to have finally made a decision.
Remember…I warned you!

Bill
