As a guess, power, water, sewer, cable TV, Internet. Some places can do wired phone on the pedestal as well. Saw that in Arizona or Texas as I recall. Snowbird park.

I really enjoy these Moosecapades - it's like getting to go on a real vacation, but without all the time, travel and expense. Keep 'em coming...

Safe travels.

We have not had any trouble finding campsites here in Maine thus far. They have gotten pricier since the first day of summer (June 21). Maine is somewhere that should not be missed. We have been Airstreaming in Maine eight times in the last ten years.

The coastal scenery and water views are pretty spectacular. The below photograph was taken earlier today. It is of the Harbor at Stonington, Maine. The Lobster Fleet dots the harbor with the town in the background.

Five point hook-up are electric, water, sewer, cable, and wifi.

We stopped off at the Trenton Bridge Lobster Pound where we picked up some freshly picked lobster meat to take back for supper. Lucy is still camped in Ellsworth, Maine. We headed out today to do some more touring in the area. We made our way south out of Ellsworth to checkout some of the small coastal fishing villages. The coast in this part of Maine is very rough with a large number of inlets and bays off of the Atlantic Ocean. It was a beautiful sunny day today with a high temperature of 70 degrees.

We went through a number of small towns, and eventually made our way down to Stonington which claims to have the largest lobster fishing fleet in the world. Whether that is a factual statement or not, we don know. What we will tell you is that Stonington is an idyllic fishing village that looks like something out a travel magazine. We had a nice lunch at a local restaurant with an ocean view. We took a bunch of pictures before heading back up to Ellsworth.

We got back to Lucy and got settled in for the night. After darkness fell, we needed to use Lucy's furnace to take the chill off. What a great day.

Tonight's pictures include:

- Blue Hill Harbor.
- Road down the coast.
- The 1880 Barncastle, an early grand summer cottages in this area.
- Cove near Blue Hill, Maine.
- The 1926 Stevens Bridge on Maine State Road 172.
- Mountain and water views along the road.
- The 1939 Deer Isle Bridge across Eggemoggin Reach.
- Vintage filling station in Stonington, Maine.
- Stonington Harbor with hundreds of lobster traps on the dock.
- Lobster at anchor in Stonington Harbor.

My friend David Dodson who is a folk singer in Camden wrote a song called The Maine Song and one of the verses references Maine's summer as a "damn fine two weeks". Guess that explains your need for the furnace. Summer will be there next week and the week after then Fall begins about July 11 or so.

You are close to the Wooden Boat School, which has great classes, and limited on-site RV/tent parking without hookups (for students), right on the water on an old estate which they bought decades ago on the cheap. I spent two separate weeks there in the 90's with the old 25' AS, and had a great time. Family style meals are served up the street in the dormitory building near the center of Brooklin [sic].

Not sure if you have time for a class this year, but in future years it might be an interesting part of the Maine trip? As you can see from the listings, there are classes in all manner of matters maritime. One course I took was for wood carving. Another for surveying wooden boats for prospective purchasers. Really excellent instructors and a great location!

I see some new classes listed including photography . . .

Happy Trails for the rest of your trip, and thanks again for the photos and comments.

Peter

PS -- edit -- not sure if they permit RV/trailer parking any more.

Hi Peter,

Thank you for the information. We were in Brooklin yesterday and took some pictures there. Of particular interest was the three story frame Mansard-roofed commercial building shown below. Also shown in is a photo of the Brooklin Town Hall. We always take a plotting photo of a building or sign to help us identify where the following pictures were taken.

Small world! The general store in Blue Hill used to have a great selection of wines FYI, especially nice red Bordeaux's (sp?).

Cheers,

Lucy remains camped in Ellsworth. We went out to explore the Schoodic Peninsular a little further up the coast. On this little outgrowth of land is a non-contiguous section of Acadia National Park along with several quaint New England fishing villages. The views continue to amaze, especially down at Schoodic Point where the surf pounds upon the rocks incessantly.

We made our way back visiting several of the fishing villages along the way. The town of Corea was especially scenic.

We got back to Lucy's campsite in time to partake in a covered dish dinner at the campground. We had a nice time and some really good food.

Tonight's pictures include:

- The 1934 Ellsworth, Maine City Hall.
- Ocean and mountain views from US 1.
- View along the road from the road in the National Park.
- Winter Harbor Lighthouse.
- Surf on the rocks at Schoodic Point.
- Gull taking flight from the rocks.
- Poppies in a yard in Corea, Maine.
- Lobster traps on a dock in Corea.
- Corea fishing fleet.
- Lobster buoys being cleaned in a lobsterman's yard.

Today was a laid back day. We really needed a break from vacationing. This is really grueling. Lucy is still camped in Ellsworth, Maine. We slept in late and had a leisurely morning. This afternoon, we headed up to Bangor, the big town about 25 miles north of Ellsworth.

We visited Sam's Club in Bangor and had our traditional 'lunch at the club', We spent the day relaxing and contemplating where Lucy will head next. As we have not decided our next direction, we will sleep on it and decide tomorrow.

Tonight's pictures include:

- Wild Lupine along the roadway.
- Medium sized Maine Mosquito taking a break in someone's front yard.
- Coming into Bangor.
- The 1897 Bangor Fire Department Hose Company Number 8 Station House near Downtown Bangor.
- Victorian home in Downtown Bangor.
- Unusual clock in Downtown Bangor.
- The 1920 Penobscot Theatre in Downtown Bangor.
- Mural reminiscent of a vintage post card.
- Ellsworth City Clock.
- Downtown Ellsworth, Maine.

How about Prince Edward Island? We went there in the 90's, before the bridge, and had a great time!

Are passports required to enter Canada (in case you did not bring them)?

Happy Trails.
