All indications that the 3000 can handle Lucy's air conditioner. Everything that I have ever read here on AirForums supports this assessment.

We have had two Honda 2000's for almost ten years, and have used them often. They have worked well for us. I wanted to go with something that is easier to use with an on-board fuel capacity that will make through the night. I do have an auxiliary fuel tank for the 2000's. I has worked well, but is a job to set-up.

What I am trying to accomplish with this change is being able to pull into a Wal-Mart of truck plaza, plug into the generator, and hit the sack in Lucy. I want the process to be as simple as possible.

I already have a Honda 3000, and have tested it running the a/c in Lucy here at the house. It seems to work well.

Cool, I like the idea of a exhaust fan. Hmmmm Maxx aire, Fantastic fan, , not bad ideas.

Will have to check out the cooling fans from a late model EMD, SD-50 or SD-60 locomotive. One fan would probably do.

or the exhaust blower from the dynamic brakes. A lot of surplus locomotives out there at auction right now by the railroads since the war on coal.
It could be a AC fan, ( not DC) and it maybe as wide as the bed of the truck.

Overkill ? yeah, Fantastic fan may work better.

A fantastic fan would allow for thermostat control, but if it rained and closed the lid while the generator was running, it could overheat the generator.

I saw on u-tube that someone made an enclosure for two eu2000s. They used two automotive radiator fans, plugged into the generator's 12v outlets, to cool the generator. Doing it this way would ensure the fans would run any time the generator is running.

Now that's a good idea. You only need the fans when the gen is running anyway.

I met a forum member at a Canopener several years ago who had a 3000 in the shell. They tried a fantastic fan to vent the hot air and the fan quickly failed. If I recall, they went with a metal 110V in-line fan with a pipe that lined up with the exhaust and curved out thru the roof.

I wish I could recall their forum names, they had a 30' Argosy and towed with a airsafe hitch, it seems they were from Canada?

When I clicked on last post, it skipped 20 posts and I wondered how you got from JC to home in one post. But, I figured it out and now can welcome you home.

I don't recall many mooses and this seemed to be a road trip more than a moose trip. Looks like it'll be next year before another long trip, but you often surprise me. We'll be on the road in a 4 days, but where we're going there will be no mooses and the only wildlife may be dead skunks in the middle of the road.

Seems like the A/C registers stayed fixed. Did they tell you anything at the service center about them?

Hi Gene,

I didn't see your post until this morning as Lucy's thread had dropped from the portal page a couple of weeks ago.

As you noted the Moose pickings were very slim on this northeast adventure. We had hoped that Nova Scotia would be more fruitful,but it wasn't. We did enjoy touring New Brunswick and Nova Scotia though. Few Mooses,but a great trip. I guess that SuEllyn and I are getting to the age that any trip we can make is a great trip.

As to Lucy's air conditioning vents. The techs at JC told us that they would bend out the plastic clips and that should do it. It has worked so far. They all stayed in place during the 900 mile trip from JC to home. We pulled Lucy over to Jacksonville yesterday (320 miles), and the vents are still in place. I'm afraid to pull one off to check it out as I will probably break it.

We did want to do a western trip this year, but we are over in Jacksonville for a family wedding. We still may do it. We will just have to see how we feel when we get back to Santa Rosa Beach.

Glad to hear your trip was good even without a plethora of mooses. Better get on the road soon as weather can change fast in the fall. Right now in Central City, west and above Denver, a cold front has come through and it is supposed to be in the 40's tonight. It is already 48˚ at 8:20 pm.
