Moosetag,
Don't know where you are currently but it sounds like you're heading toward Jackson and Hoback Junction. If you need to unwind for a day or two I would recommend "Granite Hot Springs just North of Bondurant Wyo. It has some great National Forest camp spots (Water but no electrical hookups). The Hot springs is close by and well worth the visit. The Falls there is where they filmed the kids in the movie "The River Runs Through it" running there boat over the Falls. I was up there a couple of years ago in my 28 footer and had no problem finding a camping spot that would fit. Oh, there are plenty of Moose's up there also.
Good luck,
Hank

Lucy is still camped near Pinedale, Wyoming. We spent the day checking out leads on Moose locations. We went to several different areas near Pinedale that had ideal Moose habitat. Even though we had no luck in the Moose department, we got to see some gorgeous Wyoming countryside. We did come across a herd of Buffalo.
Weather closed in on us this evening with rain and strong winds. We made our way back to Lucy to hunker in for the night.
Today's pictures include:
- Moose outside restaurant in Pinedale.
- Fremont Lake.
- Half Moon Lake.
- Lucy at her campsite.
- stock/wildlife overpass on US 191 north of Daniel Junction.
- SuEllyn in Moose habitat.
- UPS & FedEx boxes along highway in the middle of nowhere.
- Buffalo herd.
- Buffalo mom and her little guy.
- Weather closing in over the mountains.

Moose Sightings
Brian,
Have you ever gone to the Boundary Waters area in Northern Minnesota.
Talk about Moose sightings.
My son and I canoed there for 8 days. Encounter Moose during portages and actually had them swimming in front of our 17 ft canoe. We paddled as fast as we could and the modern and baby swam away like we were standing still.
Sound like you're having a great trip. Thanks for sharing events and pics with all.

Once again today we set out in search of the ever elusive Moose. We headed out into the Bridger National Forest from Cora, Wyoming. Once in the Forest we followed the Green River all the way out to Green Lake. The entire trip was through Moose habitat, but nary a Moose to found.
The twenty mile trip out to Green Lake was along a very poor road, but the scenery along the way and at the lake made the rough trip worth it.
We ended the day at the American Legion Park in Pinedale which is right on a willow bog. Mooses are regularly seen here, but not by us today.
We got back to Lucy as darkness fell, and got settled in for the night.
Today's pictures include:
- 1940 Ford Coupe in Field with 1963 Wyoming tag.
- Mail boxes along highway, no two alike.
- Bambi dispersed camped along the Green River.
- Green Lake
- Lunch stop on Green Lake.
- Operational chuck wagon in Cora, Wyoming.
- Trappers Point, where the 1830's trappers met traders from the east.
- SuEllyn posing on Trappers point.
- Livestock overpass from Trappers Point.
- Downtown Pinedale, Wyoming.

You can see the closest thing to it at the Green River Mountain Man Rendezvous in July or the Fort Bridger Mountain Man Rendezvous over Labor Day. Definitely worth seeing as 100's of vendors and true trapper/traders get together in period garb to sell their wares.

Hi Fred,
We were up there last summer. We spent two weeks doing the Minnesota Boundary Waters. We did all the way from Grand Portage over to Warroad. We had a great time and the scenery was beautiful, but alas, no Mooses to be found.

Hope you have a great time in that extraordinary area.
Great to see you visit the heart of the real west in places like Rifle, Rock Springs, and Pinedale. Lots of good hard-working folks in these rural communities. Never saw so many cowboy hats in one place as a couple of weeks ago at the NHSRA finals held in Rock Springs. Glad to see others appreciate these great places.
Safe travels, and enjoy!

Hi Ron,
We just love coming out here and seeing the sights. Part of the enjoyment is that it is so different from home, and that's what Airstreaming is all about.

Brian, we are west of you about 1 1/2 states. Weather has been hot (80's) and dry with few clouds, so it should get to you tomorrow. We'd like it to rain overnight and wash off the dust. No mooses along I-84 or the Oregon desert either, but we did see cows, bulls and a few horses and dogs.

Lucy broke camp this morning in Pindale, and traveled a short distance up to Bondurant, Wyoming. We got Lucy a really nice campsite in a small campground and got her set-up.
We headed out from there to explore the road that follows Granite Creek out to Granite Falls. The trip was about ten miles out a washboard dirt road. At the end was the falls and the Granite Hot Springs Pool. The pool is naturally 93 degrees in the summer and 112 degrees in the winter. The pool has been here since 1933.
We left the Granite Creek area and drove up to Jackson, Wyoming. We checked out a couple of campgrounds there, and stopped by Albertson's for some supplies.
We got back to Lucy in Bondurant at about 9:30, and got settled in for the night.
Today's pictures include:
- Lucy at her new campsite.
- AS boondocking along Granite Creek.
- Granite Falls.
- Granite Hot Springs sign.
- Hot Springs pool.
- Tetons with the weather closing in.
- Buffalo holding up traffic.
- Buffalo herd.
- Large bull
- Bambi at campground with "Bambi" statue.

Hmmmm.......sounds like a good place for a rally, or non-rally, gathering of Airstreamers.
Ray Eklund has a gathering in Dubois, WY, tentatively on the books for August of next year.....July is right before August, September just after, and some of us might be in the area early or stay late.
Sorry for this small hijack, Brian.

Lucy is still camped near Bondurant, Wyoming. It was raining here this morning, so we slept in. We had a leisurely morning and watched the rain through Lucy's windows. We did some housekeeping chores in Lucy. When the rain let up, we also did some clean-up in Ethel.
It sure was nice to take a break from this incessant vacationing. We did got out and do some exploring late this afternoon on some of the back roads near the campground.
We got back to Lucy around 7:30, and settled in for the night.
Today's pictures include:
- Looking at the rain out Lucy's windows.
- Lucy coming into view at the campground.
- Old wooden bridge across the Green River.
- Fred and Ethel on the back road.
- Cart path down to the river bank.
- we were held up for inspection.
- This guy wanted a really close look.
- Old camper along the back road with current tag.
- Site of the 1832 US Army Fort Bonneville.
- Falling down old house. It is sad to see this. It was someone's dream home a very long time ago. It stands as a reminder of another time and a different kind of life.

Lucy is still camped near Bondurant, Wyoming. It was a beautiful day. All of the rain has moved out of the area. We spent the day exploring some of the back roads near Bondurant. We got to see some interesting countryside along the way.
We came back to Lucy early so that we could start breaking camp tonight. We are hoping to have an early getaway tomorrow. We want to be up to Jackson by 10:00 AM to have the best shot at getting a campsite at the Gros Ventre National Park Campground, which is first come, first served. Lucy is hoping to get lucky.
We got as much packed up as we could. We are now hunkered in for another night in the Wyoming wilderness.
Today's pictures include:
- Scenery in the wilderness
- The last remains of a homestead of long ago.
- Road to nowhere.
- Small ranch in the valley.
- A really big hay stack. I wouldn't want to try to find a needle in this one.
- First cyclist that we have seeen this far out on a dirt road.
- The road narrowed as the trees thickened.
- Winding stream through the forest.
- The traffic gets heavy at some points.

Lucy broke camp in Bondurant, Wyoming early this morning. We were actually out and rolling at 7:15 AM! That was very unlike us, but we wanted to get to Jackson early to get a campsite with electric service at the Gros Ventre Campground in Grand Teton National Park. We arrived at the campground at 8:30, and were fortunate to get the campsite that we wanted.
We got Lucy all set up, and headed out in search of Mooses. We were able to spot and photograph a Moose Cow and her Calf sitting in the marshy grass along the Moose - Wilson Road.
We stayed out Moosing until almost dark before heading back to Lucy for the night.
Today's pictures include:
- Scenery along the road to Jackson.
- Entering Jackson, Wyoming.
- Fred and the Girls at their campsite in Grand Teton National Park.
- The Tetons with snow capped Grand Teton in the center.
- Beaver in the Gros Ventre River.
- Moose Cow in the grass.
- Her Calf shows himself.
- Blue Heron guarding large Beaver residence.
- 1900 Bill Menor Store along the Snake River in Moose, Wyoming.
- The River Ferry run by Bill Menor.
