Hi Gene,
When we went through Crawford several days ago, we were touring Scenic Colorado 92, a didn't realize that we would be going through Crawford until we were almost there.
Lucy is camped at Junction West RV Park on 22 Road just north of I-70.

Lucy is still camped in Grand Junction, Colorado. After yesterday's problem with Fred, we again headed up to the Grand Mesa this morning. We made it this time, and spent most of the day seeking out the Grand Mesa Mooses. There is known to be a herd of around 400 Mooses in the National Forest on Grand Mesa.
We had a great time touring the Forest, but alas, we were not able to spot any Mooses. We came down off of the mesa before dark, and got back to Grand Junction in time to have a nice dinner at the Outback Steak House.
Today;s pictures include:
- Downtown Mesa, Clorado.
- Store sign in Mesa. Now we can buy guns and soft ice cream at one store. - Back road to the National Forest.
- Ducks along back road.
- Entering the National Forest.
- One of the many lakes in the Forest.
- Back country camping rig,
- View from the Mesa.
- High country lake.
- Moose sign on the Mesa.

Brian,
Heavy rain, flash floods and thunderstorms forecast today. We stayed at that CG several years ago and it was adequate for our purposes—a meeting in Grand Jct., but that was before we moved to the Grand Jct. area. We now live next to Colorado NM about half a mile above GJ.
Let me know by PM whether you are staying in this area for a few days and maybe we can find a way to meet.

Brian just checking: did you post your pictures any differently this time? I have always been able to see and enjoy them but they are in little GIF boxes this time and I can't see them.

I bet you were excited to see all those mooses! Maybe you had a chance to run around and put tags on them? Hope so.
I'm glad Fred is feeling better and getting around okay. And I hope you and Gene had a chance to meet up. You could put a moosetag on him too!
We head west to the Colorado Rockies in a couple of week also. Cool mountains are so cool.

We spent the day today back up on the Grand Mesa seeking out the ever elusive Moose. We hit all the likely places along the Mesa, but alas, no Mooses to be found. Late this afternoon it started raining on the Mesa, and we headed back to town. On the way back to Grand Junction, we stopped for a few minutes and looked around Palisade, Colorado.
SuEllyn and I met up with Gene and Barb in Grand Junction for dinner. We had a very nice visit
After dinner we got some supplies from the grocery store, and treated Fred to a fill-up of diesel.
We arrived back at Lucy, and got settled in for the night.
Today's pictures would not upload. I kept getting an error from Airforums.

We had a pleasant time with Brian and SuEllyn yesterday over pizza. What did we talk about? Airstreams and travel, of course and we were given some moosetags, but no mooses were seen. The heavy rains predicted didn't show up, though there was some light rain.
Brian and SuEllyn were planning on taking a route north that we have never been on, but we've heard is a hard drive on a twisting mountain highway north along the Colorado border with Utah. Maybe they'll go another way to Jackson, Wyo.
I can't get the photos either.

Hi David,
I was getting that same message when I tried to post pictures last night. Tonight, things went as normal. It must have been a glitch with the Airsforums system.

Lucy broke camp in Grand Junction, Colorado this morning. She was on the road at about 10:30. Not great, but not as bad as usual. We headed east on I-70 to Rifle, Colorado. where we caught Colorado 13 to head north. We decided on this route, as the more direct route to Wyoming via Colorado 139 was not as suitable for trailer towing.
The drive up Colorado 13 was very nice with almost no traffic. We went through a number of little town along the way. We crossed into Wyoming where Colorado 13 became Wyoming State Road 789. We continued to I-80 and turned west to Rock Springs. We hit some pretty severe rain along the way. We arrived in Rock Springs at 7:00 PM, and got Fred some Diesel.
We decided to spend the night in Rock Springs. The Sweetwater County Fair Grounds has RV sites that they rent out when there are no events going on. We got one of the campsites and got Lucy bedded down for the night just as the rains began.
Today's pictures include:
- Approaching tunnel on I-70
- Public electric vehicle charger in Parachute, Colorado.
- Main Street, Rifle, Colorado.
- Colorado Highway 13.
- 1896 Meeker Hotel in Meeker, Colorado.
- Fred and the Girls taking a break along Colorado 13.
- Craig, Colorado.
- Coming into Wyoming.
- Grass roof house in Baggs, Wyoming. It might be tricky to mow.
- Coming into the thunder storms on I-80.

Brian, glad you found Colo. 13 a good route. I was secretly hoping you'd try 139 so I'd know what it was like, but probably best to avoid it. If I recall correctly, there's a free hot springs just across the border in Wyo., but we were there probably 20 years ago and the memory is dim. Last time we went through Rock Springs, there were gazillions of oil and gas trucks on the highway north.
I hope you have better moose luck. Looked at the Moosetags this morning and they are cool. For years when I wire electronics I have torn up little pieces of paper and Scotch taped them to the wires so I know what they go to. This is a lot neater and simpler.
Glad to see photos are working again.

We broke camp at the Fairgrounds in Rock Spring, got some Moose tags out at the Post Office, and headed north on US 191. We passed through several small towns before arriving in Pinedale, Wyoming. We found that the only campground in town had recently gone out of business. About ten miles north of Pinedale we found a campground and Lucy got a campsite up on a ridge overlooking the countryside. We got Lucy set-up at her campsite, and headed out in Fred and Ethel.
We drove out to the Bridger National Forest in pursuit of Moose. It was a 25 mile drive on dirt roads to get to the Moose habitat area in the Forest. The area looked very promising. We even identified some Moose hoof prints along the road. We spent several hours in the area trying to encounter a Moose, but no luck today.
We stayed in the Forest late. By the time we got back to Lucy, it was already dark.
Today's pictures include:
- Campsite at Sweetwater County Fairgrounds.
- Broadway Theatre, Rock springs, Wyoming.
- Rock Springs Railroad Station.
- Old First National Bank, Rock Springs.
- Wildlife and cattle overpass on US 191 near Pindale.
- Herd of Oreo Cows (Belted Galloways).
- Baby Oreo cow.
- Road to the Forest.
- Forest view.
- Moose tracks along road.

How beautiful!
We haven't been to Wyoming -- yet, but was wondering if the two pics (2nd & 3rd from last) looking out across the scenery are typical of Wyoming? Or does the topography of Wyoming change throughout the state?
Thanks so much for sharing your trip & pictures.

The only moose I've ever seen around Pinedale was right there in the middle of town.....shades of Northern Exposure's Cicely.

Wyoming has the Rockies in the center and the west and plains in the east, but there are plains elsewhere too, including Rock Springs. The route west long ago went through southern Wyo. and South Pass in the southwest was the lowest route (Oregon Trail) north of NM. Rock Springs is currently oil and gas country. Those photos are typical of a lot of the state. Lots of plains and mountains, not so many people.

We have been going to Wyoming every year for the past ten years. We go seeking Mooses, but we have found that Wyoming has some of the best scenery in the country. The two photos that you refer to are only a small sampling of of the sights to be seen in Wyoming.
By far the best mountain vista that we have ever seen is along US 191 north of Jackson, Wyoming. You have an unobstructed view of the Grand Tetons for a number of miles. I'm showing a few pictures of the Tetons from last year's trip.
We also frequent the Bighorn National Forest in north central Wyoming. It also has spectacular scenery.
To put Wyoming a little more in perspective, it is over twice the size of Ohio with less than one quarter the population of Cincinnati.

Last year we camped at a USDA site on the left, about 10 miles north of Pinedale, it was right on the Green river(?). Then we went up to New Fork Lakes and dry camped for 2 or 3. No moose sightings but a beautiful location to spend some time

Brian,
Thanks for all the great pictures, and welcome to my neck of the West. Just returned from Jackson (without AS) and a good time whitewater rafting on the Snake below Hoback Jct. and a hike in Grand Teton NP (Phelps Lake via Death Canyon trailhead) - both recommended. Hope you have a great time in that extraordinary area.
Great to see you visit the heart of the real west in places like Rifle, Rock Springs, and Pinedale. Lots of good hard-working folks in these rural communities. Never saw so many cowboy hats in one place as a couple of weeks ago at the NHSRA finals held in Rock Springs. Glad to see others appreciate these great places.
Safe travels, and enjoy!
Ron
