If you are still at the Carson Valley Casino and into a really good French Toast, try Katie's Country Kitchen in the casino. Also if you have not already visited, go check out Virginia City east of Carson City. Very nice old mining town.

I second this. Love Virginia City. It's very touristy but lot's of history too. Hoss and Little Joe would approve.

A couple of years ago we were in Reno the weekend of the balloon festival. It wasn't planned, it just happened to be. It was rather dramatic to see the early morning launch. The balloons looked like giant fireflies. But the air races would have been more exciting to me. Very exciting infact. Fred would love them. He would honk a few for sure.

Lucy remains camped in Minden. We had intended to head up to Reno today, but decided instead to tour Lake Tahoe.
We went across the mountain from Minden and crossed into California. We started our tour in the South Lake Tahoe area. The area was loaded with tourists, and it was slow going. We made our way around the entire circumference of Lake Tahoe in the clockwise direction. We went through all the little towns on the Lakefront. It took us most of the day make it back to Minden.
It was a nice tour. The visibility was pretty good, but there was some smoke haze present from the fires in Central California.
We made it back to Lucy before dark, and settled-in early for the night.
Today's pictures include:
- Topiary in Minden.
- South Lake Tahoe beach.
- 1960's trailer.
- Sno-Flake Drive-In.
- Fire hydrant with snow marker.
- Paddle-wheeler in Emerald bay.
- Emerald Bay.
- Town of Kings Beach.
- Back in Nevada.
- New Airstreams on flatbed in Casino parking lot.

I picked up on your travel log late in your journey. Looks like you are having fun. You are approaching my neck of the woods. What is your destination? Sorry if I missed it in an earlier post.

No, you didn't miss anything. We don't really have a destination. We are kind of planning to be back over in Wyoming for the Moose Rut. We are thinking about doing a little touring in southeast Idaho on the way.
There are two things that we try to avoid on our Airstream Adventures, schedules and Interstates. We are not even sure when we will return to Florida. We probably won't head home for another month or so.

Lucy packed-up in Minden, Nevada this morning and headed north. We went up US 395 through Carson City and on to Reno. We got Lucy a campsite at the Grand Sierra Resort RV Park.
We had enough time today to head out to the Tahoe-Reno Industrial Center which id about 20 miles east of Reno. This where the Tesla Automobile Company is building their new ten million square foot manufacturing plant. We only got to see it from a distance, but it was still quite impressive. The Tahoe-Reno Industrial Center is massive (107,000 acres), and is the largest facility of its type in the United States. There are already a number of plants and warehouses in the center.
There was another very interesting aspect of this giant industrial center. There are still a large number of Wild Mustangs that run free on the same land with the factories. We were amazed how many we saw. We hope that there are some plans to relocate these guys as the industrial center becomes more built-out.
We still had some daylight left and we looked around Downtown Reno for a little while.
We got back to Lucy before shortly before dark and settled in for the night.
Today's pictures include:
- Smoke from the fires in California was spilling over into Carson City today.
- Decked out Airstream in casino parking lot.
- Tesla Plant.
- Airstream rebuild.
- Wild Mustangs
- More Wild Mustangs.
- Spider car in Sparks.
- Reno Bus Terminal sign.
- Downtown Reno.
- Reno Arch Sign.
The system is again having problems uploaded photographs. All of my pictures for today failed to upload. I will try to upload them in the morning.

Reno has a very good classic car museum. We spent the whole day there maybe 10 years ago.
Haze comes and goes here. Some days, actually most days, my eyes are burning.

How's the Truckee River. I read its low or almost dried up. Lived in Reno in the 70s and the river was always full flowing. 2014 the Truckee River couldn't even be measured in Sparks, NV. I read Washoe Lake between Reno and Carson City has dried up. Looks like the West will turn into a dust bowl/fire bowl.

Hi Kelvin,
We were Downtown and looked at the Truckee today. It is pretty low, but there is still some water flowing, but it is only inches deep.
Lake Tahoe now has giant beaches because the water level is so low. The small boat canals off of Lake Tahoe have floating docks resting on the banks.
Here are a few pictures. This four year drought has wreaked havoc in this area. I sure hope that they have a record rain year coming up.

Lucy is camped in Reno. We spent the morning packing Moose Tags and paying some bills. This afternoon we went out and did some more touring around Reno. It is still pretty smoky here, but we still enjoyed looking around town.
We came back to Lucy for a while and relaxed. We went back out after dark to see downtown Reno after all the lights were on. It was pretty cool.
We returned to Lucy to have supper and start the preparations to break camp in the morning.
Today's pictures include:
- Reno's namesake, Union General J.L. Reno.
- Washoe County Courthouse.
- Virginia Street Bridge.
- Bridge construction.
- Truckee River.
- Smoke over Reno
- South Reno Welcome Sign.
- Downtown Reno
- Reno Arch at night.

Lucy broke camp in Reno this morning, and we headed east through the Nevada countryside along Interstate 80. For the first time on this trip, we were forced to stay with the Interstate as there was no reasonable back road alternative.
As Lucy was trapped on the Interstate, she took all of the business loops on the route. We visited Fernley, Lovelock, Winnemucca, Battle Mountain, Carlin, and Elko before arriving in Wells, Nevada.
We arrived in Wells late this afternoon as a thunder storm was closing in. We decided to stop here for the night, We got Lucy set up at her campsite just before the rain let loose, the first rain we have had in a couple of weeks.
We had a nice dinner in Lucy and are hunkered-in for the night.
Today's pictures include:
- Mountains east of Reno.
- 1920 Pershing County Courthouse ion Lovelock, Nevada.
- Downtown Lovelock, Nevada.
- Tesla car charging station in Winnemucca, Nevada.
- Owl Motel in Battle Mountain features air conditioning and telephones.
- I-80 winding its way through the mountains.
- The mountains overlooking Carlin, Nevada.
- I-80 Tunnels near Elko, Nevada.
- 1910 Elko County Courthouse in Elko, Nevada.
- Rainbow over the campground in Wells, Nevada.

I guess Tesla needs those chargers when testing their cars when the new factory comes online. Can't imagine anyone in Winnemucca has an electric car. Tesla is not allowed to sell their cars in Missouri because they don't adhere to the standard dealer business model. The auto dealer lobby has worked against Tesla. I've seen a Tesla in Nixa, MO.

Last night's rain in northern Nevada left us with a surprise this morning. When we stepped out of Lucy this morning, we saw that the high mountains in the distance were dusted in snow. The peaks are at the 10,000 foot range.
We got Lucy packed up and headed out north on US 93 which is very desolate up to the Idaho state line. We crossed into Idaho and continued north to Twin Falls. We looked around Twin Falls and got Fred some Diesel. We also stopped at the Snake River Canyon on the north side of Twin Falls. The Canyon is about 500 feet deep and a pretty impressive site.
From Twin Falls, we continued east on I-84 over to Pocatello, Idaho. We got Lucy a nice campsite at the Bannock County Fairgrounds in Pocatello. We got Lucy set-up and took a ride to Downtown Pocatello.
On the way back to Lucy, we stopped at Wal-Mart for some supplies. It was after dark by the time that we got to the campground. The temperature here had dropped into the low 50's. We got Lucy's heater going and settled in for the night.
Today's pictures include:
- Snow on mountains in Wells, Nevada.
- Large crow with his big score.
- US 93 scenery.
- Bridge over Snake River Canyon.
- Snake River Canyon.
- Potatoe truck.
- Coming into Pocatello, Idaho.
- Fairgrounds campground.
- Greyhound Depot, Pocatello.
- Chief Theatre sign in Pocatello.
