Blue Springs State Park near Deland. Just northeast of Orlando. You can get to it very easily easy off of I-4 but far enough out of the way from Orlando for a quick exit north. This time of year the manatees will be in attendance. Check my blog listed below for when I stayed there. Beautiful place.

Kelly Park is nice, but no dogs allowed.

Perry,
A neighbor told us about a county park in Mt. Dora called Trimble
Park. We haven't been there, but it looked nice online. When I saw that your folks live in Mt. Dora, it reminded me.

we liked Topsail, near Destin. We also love, love, love Rainbow Springs just south of Ocala. Great tubing & canoeing. We have been to Manatee Springs...nice....lots of deer going right through your campsite....and you'll see Manatees in the river. Blue Springs is right outside Orlando...that was nice, but we went during the summer, so we didn't see the Manatees. Anastasia in St. Augustine is WONDERFUL. Hillsborough River State park is really nice too. Really liked that. Ft. Desoto is great....whether you have the yappy dogs or not...like you said, there is a "no dogs" campground and a "Yappy dogs" campground. We like the yappy dogs side and the great dog park and dogs allowed beach....(there is also a "dog-free" beach. We have been camping in FL for the past 2 1/2 years and have found almost every state park to have something unique. Enjoy your stay!

Yes that is the name of the place I was trying to think about.
