Looking for a good site in the mountains on a creek

Please help me find a good site in the mountains right on the creek. Going to travel from Florida to the mountains in June either Giorgia, North Carolina or Tennessee. I have 2 children and want to have a simple vacation and get back to nature. Any links experiences or ideas would be appreciated.

Highly recommend Elkmont in TN (Smoky Mountains NP) - near Gatlinburg. Boondocking, creek, cool temps, gorgeous.

Another idea is Standing Indian campground, in (I think) the Nantahala National Forest near Franklin, NC. Really pretty, nice hikes, creek the kids can swim in...

Pictures from Elkmont. Keep in mind that in the June timeframe, if I remember correctly, is when the synchronized fireflies do their thing; kids would love.

You should definitely try the Top of Georgia Airstream Park! Our seven kids LOVE it-- it is in the north Georgia Mountains by Helen, GA, with a wonderful creek through the middle which stays cool all summer long. There's a TON to do in the area, but the park is so nice you can easily spend the entire time there happily. It is also only $8.00/night with FULL hookups. We camp all over, but it is our children's favorite. You do need to join WBCCI to come as it is members-only, but you can even do that at the park. You can see many photos if you friend the park on Facebook. Let us know if you visit and we will meet you there! My mother-in-law divides her time between here in Georgia and Bloomington, where my husband grew up. Katie

If you get into North Carolina I think you would enjoy Creekwood Farm RV Park near Waynesville, NC. Many of the sites are right on the creek. Nice, clean, and well taken care of. Level sites. Friendly and helpful office staff. Beautiful area. They also have a small doggie park on the property.

try the KOA in Townsend TN, a bit pricey but good location on mountain stream...you can rent tubes for tubing on the river.. near Cades Cove which has an 11 mile loop you can drive or bike (hilly ride) horse back riding and wagon rides, you may see deer, turkeys and even bears..the loop is closed to auto traffic on Wed and Sat until 10:00 a.m. Townsend is located near Pidgeon Ford and Gatlinburg TN. You can make a day trip across Newfound Gap into Cherokee N.C. Also the drive thru the Little River George is very scenic...good easy access from I-75 thru Maryville TN to Townsend. Townsend is known as the quite side of the Smokies
