Little things that make a big difference...

I'm sure there are many threads like this, but I thought it might be helpful for folks to share the little changes and upgrades they have made to their own Steams... Let's share what we've done that works really well!

We added these side table lights on our Front Bedroom Twin nightstand and on our dinette as well - they came form Amazon with an LED bulb and provide a much warmer light and nicer atmosphere than the Stream LEDs (even when you turn them all the way down)...

Keeping with the light theme, this little battery powered lamp provides a warm glow that comes on automatically when it senses motion and shuts off when the motion is gone. Perfect for the bathroom at night. Found it on Amazon.

I found a battery- operated, touch-on 20 lumen, stick-on puck light for the bathroom for $8 at Lowe's.
And just taped some decorative paper around the led directional lights over the beds and dinette in our 27fb. The LEDs never get hot enough to burn, so for $1 I got a soft glow. The tape is kinda lame; I'll figure out something better eventually.
Speaking of lights, we briefly removed the light in the galley today...8 screws. Eight. I think it was more secure than the overhead locker in the bathroom.
Got a small side-to-side level and installed it where I can see it standing outside the door.
Installed an under-counter 3-stage water filter for the kitchen sink. Had to buy a covered trash can to put under the pantry doors, since we put the filter where the trash can is supposed to go, but now the can is easier to get to, so...win win.
And that's only in the past week, lol.

I can't claim credit for this first idea as I got it from another air-streamer who posted about it a couple of years ago.

Anyway, the mattresses in our 2020 25' GT Twin hung over the supporting plywood to the point that sitting on the edge of the bed was almost impossible and sleeping anywhere near the edge made you feel like you were falling off. Using his example, I unscrewed the existing platforms, cut and inserted a strip of finish plywood with weather stripping added against the wall, then replaced the original plywood pieces. The result is a platform that fully supports the mattress and looks factory since the original veneer finish on the plywood edge was retained. Just a small upgrade but SO much more comfortable.

Another small upgrade was in the bathroom where I purchased a towel bar from Airstream parts to match the existing one and installed it on the wall opposite the toilet below the level of the countertop. We can now hang two full size bath towels to dry in the bathroom. Again, a small change with a nice benefit.

Ventline bathroom fan controller

title is the name of the post where we learned about installing a speed controller for the bathroom fan. In cold weather condensation is a problem, and we have found the best way to control it is using one of the vent fans. We installed a controller on the bathroom fan that allows us to run the fan, but at a much slower and quieter speed, but still accomplish moister removal. We have used it extensively and consider it one of the small things that made a huge difference

I built this magazine rack/table for the wall on the curb side just inside the door. It's a convenient place to set a cup or dish while sitting on the couch watching TV. On the road side there is a credenza that extends along the wall all the way back to the couch. The idea came from one that was in the trailer when we got it but I don't think it was factory. It appeared to be a a homemade unit built by a PO. This one is oak with a Corian top to match the rest of the cabinetry in the trailer since I rebuilt it about ten years ago.

This plexiglass cube tissue dispenser came from Amazon for $7.95. It clears space on the bathroom countertop and came with 3M type adhesive pads - we stuck it right under the mirror cabinet and it works great!

Not my idea but I got this from another post here. If you ant to change the look of your LED lights, this is so simple and affordable. Bye the orange puck filters online. They are precut and fit perfectly. Used 2 in each light.

Looks like a great idea. From the picture on Amazon it appears the dispenser is nominally designed to hold the tissue box upright while yours is mounted sideways (for obvious reasons). Just curious whether the holder grips the tissue box firmly enough so that you could leave the box in place while travelling without having it bounce around the bathroom.

When we're rolling, we take the cube out - just to err on the side of caution...

Thanks. It would be nice if you didn't have to remove the cube each time you took off; just one more thing to forget to do. I wonder if a piece or two of foam weather stripping on the side of the box, or more permanently inside the holder itself would provide enough tension to hold everything firmly in place.

Perhaps the 3m extreme double sided tape will keep it in place in route.

We use this tissue holder on the wall and have never had the box come out on the road.

We originally got these steps for our elderly Basset Hound Duncan and they work great for him by providing a larger more stable surface. The aluminum steps on our Flying Cloud are an engineering marvel - and they work really well. However, with time we've found that we actually prefer the Race Ramps steps as well. They fit nicely in the back of our truck and give us a bigger more stable step platform - they have been a game changer.
