Little Big Horn Battlefield

This summer we visited the mid-west for the first time in our 77 Argosy. I have wanted to see this battlefield for a very long time. Never dreamed that I would make it. Most of you know it is located on IH-90 at Garryowen. We stayed at the 7th Calvery RV Park for 7 days. Besides several visits to the battlefiend we also made trips to Sheridan and Hardin. Found a small cafe in Hardin where you got a large bowl of homemade soup for $1.75.

I am glad that I got to live long enough to see this part of the Country. I looked as I had imagined all these years.

Highly recommend the Hart Ranch RV near Rapid City, SD. Top notch RV park. We are also attending Bozman next year. We will be leaving the San Antonio area late April and work our way over the CA and up the West Coast to Washington State. We are doing another 3 mo outing.

Gaylejoe, one of our "highest" travel moments happened when we visited this battlefield site several years ago. The weather turned in just minutes from blazing hot dusty to windy cloudy stormy. A rain storm marched across the plain from the west, driving dust ahead of it on the wind. We could see wide grey sheets of rain as it approached. It swept over us as we braced ourselves out in the wind, huge rain drops pounding the dust. As it moved on east, it left in its wake an aroma of wet sage that we'll remember forever. We can close our eyes and be back in that place at that time again. You are right...this site carries an emotion that is more than just the spectacular views. In fact the whole midwest and mountain west region should not be missed by travelers, in our opinion. ~G
