Just got back from meeting Annette and Cam at Casa de Fruita. Quite a gal to decide to try this fultiming thing without any experience and ALONE! She's got a great attitude- full speed ahead, bring it on! Her Trade Wind is very cozy with that rear bath.

Here is a pic of Annette, Vana Blue, and Freya too happily set up in Casa de Fruita.

Hey Dan, I just found your reply. It was so great meeting you and I must say your enthusiasm is totally contagious. I think it's amazing that you came to Casa to lend support to Cam. And thanks for posting the pic. In it I was excitedly connecting the coaxial (sp?) cable and for the first time in a couple of weeks was able to watch tv on my laptop using a tuner. Worked like a charm.

So speaking of full speed ahead....I absolutely totally without a doubt HATED driving the California freeways through Sacramento, Oakland and San Jose. After Casa de Fruta I decided to try a little R&R on the coast at my friends' home. I must say, as nice as this is, I feel bad that Freya is parked outside, cold and lonely. The Vespa, however, has been used quite extensively.

What I've learned from just a couple of weeks on the road is that it is difficult to be spontaneous when you are pulling a trailer, and if you're not totally sure where you're going, you're screwed. So I will do a little more research before I head out for the next leg of my trip which will probably be after christmas, toward arizona.

More later...it is blowing like hell and I think we may be on the verge of losing electricity.

Hi Annette,

It was great to meet up with you! Glad you got the tv working. Now it is even more cozy in there for you.

Enjoy Pacific Grove. Sounds perfect for Freya too. You are right about having a plan when towing and sticking to it. Spontinaity is for the day trips.

Hope you will make it back this way for a NorCal rally sometime. I look forward to it!

Keep us posted on your trip. Sounds great.

If you haven't seen it yet, you need to rent a copy of The Long Long Trailer, made around 1954, starring Lucille Ball and Desi Arnez.

It has a scene in it just as you described above.

It is a great movie. Anyone who owns an RV should see it.
