Annette,

Casa de Fruita is on the way to Monterey if you're in Brentwood. Take I5 south to Hwy 152 head west to Casa de Fruita (It's on the hwy). The RV park has all pull throughs, almost. Cam and you can be next to each other without a problem, place is huge. I would love to meet everyone at Casa de Fruita. After your stay, just head west on Hwy 152 to Hwy 101 then south to Hwy 156, west to Hwy 1 and the Monterey Bay. Easy shot.

I suspect that you have more company than you'll ever know in regard to problems encountered where backing the coach is required. One of my most memorable situations involved encountering a "Road Closed-Bridge Out" sign that forced me into turning the Overlander and Suburban around in a very small boat launch area on Crab Orchard Lake (July, 1999). Due to the number of vehicles parked and the physical size of the launch area, I had to back the Overlander down the boat ramp until the rear bumper was in the water - - I can just imagine what boaters on the lake must have been thinking as well as the few people who were in the launch area.

It is that little "secret" cabinet or compartment that causes problems when we must fit our Argosys with new toilets as many of the newer design toilets (even the low-profile models) are too tall and either partially or entirely block access to that cabinet. It was among the little unexpected surprises that my Minuet had for me - - the original owner hadn't mentioned the cabinet and I had never been aware of its existence prior to acquiring the Minuet.

It sounds like both of you are well on your way to enjoying your coaches - - the adventure begins!

Kevin, your story fills me with fear!!! on the way to brentwood i had to cross two bridges that turned out to be one-vehicle-at-a-time bridges. it wasn't until the evening, with a nice little burbon in hand, that it dawned on me: what if i had to back up off the bridge!!!! i'm never ever leaving the freeways

guess it's finally time for the turkey.

cheers all!

With a tow vehicle like this, you can see why she has a problem backing up..

Casa de Fruta Time

I'm thinking I'll be at Casa de Fruta around 4 pm. I'll be getting to Toscanos in Los Banos at about noon. I figure a few hours for them to go over all the stuff with me. I hope it's a few hours and not "here's your keys, bye." Anyway, Casa de Fruta should be a little over a half hour from Los Banos. I know 4 pm doesn't leave much daylight for admiring the new shine, but enough time to hook everything up, I hope. I'd sure love to host a "simple" get together. Our first NorCal rally reunion.

If the crowd is demanding enough, I suppose we could back into the pull through, just for the entertainment factor.

I hope to see everybody.

Cam

hello!

We won't make it to the rally, but I've been to Casa De Fruta before; there was a renaissance faire there a couple of years ago. Jeff is going out of town to work for a few days and I'll be home painting the frame on ours. See post: progress on our '67. Read all about my POR15 adventures. Ouch.

Please take lots of pictures!!

We just got back from a stay in Reno/Tahoe to celebrate the arrival of the holidays and I saw two airstreams. Pictures posted in "airstream sightings" thread.

Congratulations again! Take pix! Did I mention, take photos?

Here's Jeff, tubing at Soda Springs!

All right, I'll plan on 4:00 pm at Casa de Fruita. It will be nice to get away for the afternoon. I need to take a nice walk tomorrow or I'll explode.

Jeff, are you in?

Ingrid, glad to hear you're using the holidays to plug away at your trailer. You need to get it along enough so it can roll for the spring rally. I would love to see your "labor of love."

See you all tomorrow.

Yes! Give Cam a big jump-up-and-down hug for me, like on the Price Is Right. Life is good!

Hey Anette you go girl! Sounds like you are having a ball. Your point above reminds me of my boat docking learning days at the marinas with numbered slips - Hubby says go for #10 - and my new skills coupled with the wind says nope lets HIT (literally) #11.

Love the "bike". Now that is what I call taking your bike along for the ride.

psssst when you were told you were backing up to slow - I hope you charged that guy for playing with your A/S. The nerve - did he not know there is no such thing as backing up too slow!

Try not to give up too easily in those situations - don't worry about what other people think - you have the brawn and courage to take on this venture in the first place so as I say you go girl. I find the best thing when backing up alone - is to get out go to the back and scope the site line - then visualize - get back in and "just do it!" - and if it did not work go for take 2-3-4-5-6-7-8-9----------

Would love to meet one day out in the big world of Streaming - can't wait to start travelling and meeting some more people on this forum.
