I think camping makes my wife happy... It gives her a sense of adventure.

Loving it

Six years full time in a Big 43' Bus traveling coast to coast, NE-SW, N-S, NW, SE wintering in Fl and mostly in Tx north of Corpus Christie.
The joy of having the woman I love riding beside me, seeing what we have seen, meeting so many wonderful people from such divers backgrounds and sharing happy hour from 4-5 in lawn chairs chatting about our days our experiences. Telling good jokes, drinking wine. Going back to the rig and preparing a nice meal, more wine, and watching a Netflix or Red Box movie. Stay up as long as we want, sleep as long as we want until the dogs take over our daily lives (ie we have truly gone to the dogs!) Seeing sooo many things.

As we have gotten older, realizing that old age health issues are becoming more of a problem, we hung up the keys to the Big Rig and bought a 30' AS and are renovating it to be more comfortable for just weeks or months of non winter camping. But now some of my joys are watching movies and TV and seeing places we have been and saying to myself... ya I remember being there and for me it is the memories that we have stored in our minds and the stimulants that come out of the blue and bring back those fond memories of those place and what we did there that are the unexpected joys. As we look forward to the time we have left we hope to continue with grace to continue that journey until the wheel go square. Ride on! Ride on til we are gone!

Good one "007"...looking back on fond memories without forsaking future ones. For me the sights of this beautiful country, some famous and others only for the brave who venture there. Running the carriage roads around Acadia or along the trails of the Olympic Peninsula and sitting outside with my beautiful wife of 40 years. No wonder we can't resist "Life is Good" T-shirts.

Sunrise, campfire, coffee perking, wife giving me a hug, dog sleeping peacefully in my lar, and breakfast bacon, potatoes and eggs sizzling in the cast iron skillet...

In no particular order...

Listening to the surf pounding on the beach as I relax by a campfire at the end of the day.

The sound of rain on the AS as I sit inside warm and dry.

Spending quality time with my wife.

Taking my dog on early morning walks.

Puttering around taking care of easy, non-emergency, maintenance stuff.

Best part of waking up...is waking up!

We enjoy getting out on the road with the AS anytime we can, but when we are finally at camp....that early morning sunrise, fresh perked coffee, and the opportunity to see who else is "up" in the animal world...or a surprise visitor during the day across the creek, or the relaxing adventure to a not to far location with the canoe or kayak...all are great!

Every day my eyes open is a blessing! I say.. "Good morning, Lord! Seems you were amused with my antics yesterday so are allowing another one...Let's see what we can get done today!"

When that discussion happens in the AS... I add.... "thanks for the great blessings to enjoy this Airstream with my Bride..."

Great thread. I've lived life from poor to rich and back and forth more than once. I've done the Four Seasons thing and I've slept in a U-Haul because I couldn't afford a motel. I've owned fancy sports cars and I've hitchhiked across America. I've hobnobbed with the 1% and I've worked on oil rigs. Without question, absolutely without question, the finest people I have ever met are fellow campers. And Airstreamers are the finest campers of all.

Cheers,
John

When we hook up the AS and head down the road (or up the road - as you please).

Waking up rested and relaxed, not worrying about what Monday may bring. Eating a relaxed breakfast with my family and pack of dogs, then heading out on the open road at a reasonable hour (before noonish...) toward the next adventure.

Sometimes I have to laugh to myself thinking this is a dream. Then I pinch myself to make sure it isn't. A picture is worth a thousand words. Articfox's campfire picture next to the airstream said it all without writing a word.

Thanks very much for the kind comment on my image. I'm actually surprised anyone remembered it as I only posted that image once and it was a while back.
Thanks again for remembering.

Cheers
Doug

Very interesting comments John and well said!
Life is always been an interesting journey for me... During that journey, it is the people I've met that have made it interesting.

Cheers
Doug
