Las Vegas NV Question

I want to pick up some family flying in to Las Vegas at the end of March. I will be on the way from NM to Death Valley. I will be pulling my Airstream.

Can I tow my Airstream into the arriving flights area. Any other suggestions?

Looks like McCarran uses parking garages for pickup areas, and Airstreams in parking garages sounds like a bad idea.. There are two major terminals and pickup areas, depending on incoming airline and time... For Terminal 1, airport wants any RV or oversize vehicle to use oversize lot on Gillespie Ave across from Rental Car lot... Minimum of $6 to park, but they do have courtesy shuttles.. Terminal 3 also has its own oversize vehicle lot, but not sure if truck and Airstream will fit.. They have different fee schedule for parking there, and first 15 minutes are free.. One option is to have incoming family take shuttle to a Casino and meet them there.. Parking info number at McCarran Airport for questions about oversize vehicles is: 702.261.5122.

In Theory, there's no difference between Theory and Practice, but in Practice, there is usually a difference...

Have them take the free shuttle over to the rental car mall and pick them up there. If I'm remembering correctly, there is plenty of spots to "hide" an airstream nearby.

Or, go park behind Excalibur and pick them up there. Easy in/out there

Red face walmart close

we temporarily parked at walmart down the street and told the obvious security man. Wife stayed with trailer until pickup was done by husband and returned and hooked up and left with people that flew in. The airport is one of the most difficult to figure out how to get into and pickup. start early so you can go around 2 to 3 times and finally get to arrival area.

Someone beat me to it, but the rental car facility is just off the airport, and your party can hop on the free shuttle from the terminal. Lot more room and less bustle, plus no overhead obstructions.....

You do not want to tow anything near McCarren airport! Overnight at one of the RV parks on Boulder Hwy, they all have openings. Either take Tropicana over to the airport (not recommended) or-- have them take a shuttle to one of the casinos such as Sam's Town, or a take a cab to one of the Boulder Hwy RV Parks.

I have been at Duck Creek since November, there are several other decent RV parks & a couple of dives in this part of town.

Option 2 is to boon dock it near Lake Mead -- which is where you will find most of the airstreams in the area then fight traffic to one of the three terminals at McCarren.

Get used to doing u-turns when in Las Vegas.

The airport is right off the Strip. I wouldn't bring my Airstream there if you paid me - I hate driving in Vegas- I can't imagine doing it towing something. Are you spending the night? If you don't mind dry camping and they have room, you should not miss Red Rock Canyon on the Northwest side of town. It's about a 30 mintue drive from the airport and really spectacular. The campsites have no hookups though. Good luck and have fun.

The closest RV Park to McCarran is Oasis Las Vegas. There's oversized parking at Mandalay (which is probably the closest casino to the airport) but you can't stay the night. Red Rock is beautiful, there just isn't any cell service. These days we prefer boondocking at Lake Mead.

Good luck!

There is a 8 foot high height limit bar on the way in to the passenger terminal. Red Rocks would have been nice, but was full. Stayed at the KOA at Circus Circus. It served it's purpose but I could not wait to get out of there.

95 degrees at Death Valley. Returned via Zion, Lake Powell and Grand Canyon with temps in the 40s and down to the teens at night.
