Lake Tahoe anyone?

I'm looking for suggestions about good places to stay in Lake Tahoe. My first trip out in my new Airstream and my first time to Lake Tahoe.

Zephyr Cove RV park is a really nice place on the Nevada side. It's located 4 miles north of Stateline so is not far from the Casinos if you like that sort of thing. There is a resort there too wih store and restaurant and beaches. One of the Lake Tahoe paddle wheelers docks there too. They do lake tours for brunch, lunch and dinner. Here is the link to the campground...
RV Park & Campground: Zephyr Cove Resort, South Lake Tahoe, NV

Oh...and welcome to the forums!

If you like to camp with out hook ups. I can highly recommend Fallen Leaf Campground. Its not on Lake Tahoe, just a short drive away from the lake and the Casino's. Its also located less than a 1/4 mile walking distance from Fallen Leaf Lake. In my opinion Fallen Leaf Lake is prettier than Tahoe Lake. I hope this helps.

My avatar was taken at Fallen Leaf.

Oh yeah, Welcome to the forums.

There are a number of airstreamers around Lake Tahoe. lovingtahoe, here on the airforums, would be one great contact. They have a 25' 2008 . I'll let them know about your visit if they miss this post.

Yes, ditto. A beautiful campground but.....no hook-ups. But, also Airstreams are made to boondock with for awhile.
Neil.

PS. It may be too late to book for this summer. Fall may be your best time.

There is also Tahoe SRA, it is located in the town of Tahoe City (Northwest side of lake) They do have lakeside campsites, but are hard to obtain.... The campground is in town. Here is a link to the California website for this park: Tahoe SRA

There used to be a nice campground (likely no hookups) at Sunnyside just south of Tahoe City... can't remember the name. Might be a NFS campground. Great spots as I recall. Sunnyside is a old lodge that is a great place to grab a beer and sit and look at the lake...

Tahoe is often very crowded in the summer months. Get reservations if you can.

Have fun!

Yes, the CG across the street from Sunnyside IS nice. I like that north/west side of the lake, Sunnyside is a nice place to stay or eat and relax. One of our favorites.
There is also a little resturant close by at the bridge over the Truckee River outlet. Good food, the place is a bit rustic but busy.
Anytime we go to Tahoe, we always say to each other - "why don't we come here more often?"
Summer is not a good time to go IMO just because of the crowds.

We went up to meet some friends that stay each year at Tahoe Valley Campground...It's right near the 'Y' as you enter Tahoe on Hwy 50 from the West.

It's a typical private campground, with your neighbor's at arms length...not our cup of tea! Kind of 'dusty' as I remember it...There are tall pines/firs throughout the camp, with full hook ups. They have a small pool and activities for kids...there are lots of places to see and shopping close by...and of course the Casinos a few miles away...

It's crowded up there in the summer...hope you enjoy crowds...however, with the gas prices, there might be a little bit more 'elbow room' this year.

Camped at Zephyr Cove Last Summer

Spent a week a Zephyr Cove last summer. It's very nice, but a bit pricey. I think the rate was $60.00 per night.

I camp at Sugar Pine Point for 2 weeks each year. I just love the place. You could probably get into D.L.Bliss with your 27 footer, you'll have to check the Ca. state park site. Full hook ups any where on the lake are pricy, and there really aren't a lot of them.State parks reported earlier this spring that camping reservations were up 200% this year!! In order to get sweet sites you really need to reserve 7 yes seven months in advance. Having said that - there is a small overflow area at Sugar Pine Point and a lot of the time there are sites unreserved during the middle of the week. SPP has a pathway to the lake and a nice beach. If you like above timberline hiking you can take a short drive to Squaw Valley and take the Tram up to the Olympic pool, spend the day hiking and swimming. lots of times live music in the meadow. It's quite nice. Good food everywhere, fabulous kayaking, and in the summer lots of people. beware of that.
Just go have a great time-there always seems to be a spot along the river between Truckee and the lake.

You will love it there. We have been skiing there for the past 6 years and just love the area. There's something there for everyone.

We just drove by Tahoe on our way home from picking up our new gently used Safari. In April we stayed at Zephyr Cove when still traveling in our Lance. On the way home this trip, we stayed at the Martis Creek Campground on Hwy 267 just outside of Truckee. Not far from Tahoe and a great stop if you are a birder.
