Last year we stayed in the KOA in north Fort Collins, CO. It was well kept and professionally run. It had good wi-fi, a pool, game room and a small lake where they rented paddle boats. It was a little expensive as all KOA's seem to be, but we wanted to stay in Fort Collins and it worked good for us. We normally like to stay in state parks, COE parks or NF campsites.
There seem to be two kinds of KOA's—neglected and pretty good. All have higher prices. I've come to realize to check RV campground reviews (when I can) and have found them by Googling that plus a town. We avoided the one in Craig for that reason yesterday.

I just got home from 10 days in Ft. Collins... stayed at the Larimer County Park campground on the south end of Horsetooth Reservoir. It's about 2 miles west of Ft. Collins. $20/night plus $7 daily park fee. Right next to the lake, electric hookups, dump station, water spigot, and a new first-class restroom shower building. Very nice.
We stay at the KOA's in our area (central Florida) so far we have had good luck, KOA does a stay a night get the second night free on the first weekend of May every year to raise money for kids with cancer and we try to take advantage of that weekend and know it is helping kids in need. We always try to pick a different KOA so we can try the one's closest to us and if it turns out to be a bad we dont feel quite so bad as it is half price, but so far they all have been very clean with pools and nice professional staff. Other than that I agree they seem to be a bit high in price.
Our favorite is the KOA in Flagstaff, Arizona. It's been there a while, but the owner has
up-graded the power and just put in wind generators. Oh ya, he's my wife's uncle.

The worst koa for us was in Alma,Ar. We were going to Fort Smith for a class reunion and between the two CG's in the area it appeared to be the better from the street. How wrong we were. We followed the manager in the golf cart to our site. Unfortunately our progress was impeded by the appearance of two trees in the road. It was determined by the manager at this time that he would have to cut them down. The fact that they were about fifteen feet high made it a safe assumption. After the tree removal we pulled into our site. We realized immediately we needed some gravel at our site because the ground was slippery.......did I mention it was raining? The manager told his son to get a load of gravel and bring it back. Upon his return he had a few choice words for my husband. At this time I looked down and saw many fake fingernails all over the ground and literally hundreds of cigarette butts. I won't forget that KOA park.

Sounds kind of like you were interfering with the proper operation of the guy's whisky still.

Mike, my question was partly tongue and cheek, but that's good info since the railroad at Flagstaff, like Gallup, makes sleeping near it difficult. Flagstaff is a good stop for a couple of days because of all the things to see around there.
This was the first park I ever stayed at last year, and it's a really nice KOA. It's semi-desert, so there's not many trees, but the park was nice and clean, big spaces, and a friendly staff.
I think this is the 4th time here at the Dayton OH KOA, very nice setup and well worth a stop if you are passing thru the central Ohio area.
We live in Maryland and make the run back to my parent's house in Minnesota at least once or more per year, and usually stop by here as it is a nice days run from MD (495 miles) and is a very nice campground for a nightly stop over.
So my vote is to put it on your list if you are looking for a stop over in the middle of Ohio.
I realize the Terraport at Jackson Center is only about 75 miles north of here, but unless I am going to JC for maintenance I would rather stay here at the KOA.
regards, Dave & Shari
