Exclamation Kitchy, Cheezy & Touristy Places Sought!

What are some of the most unique, unusual, weird and just plain bizarre things you have seen while traveling with your Airstream? Kitchy, cheezy and flagrantly touristy sights are preferred!

Here's my list (it's short... I've got a lot of living to do still):
> Giant statue of Paul Bunyon and Babe his blue ox
> World's largest ball of twine
> House made of popsicle sticks (or was I dreaming? I can't recall...)

I'd love to get digital photos of your sightings to use in a music video I'm working on. You can send your photos to: LittleRadioProductions@comcast.net

Thanks!

Apparently, those Paul Bunyon statues were more or less mass produced, and are fairly common. My favorite one is on a giant pole above a Vietnemese restaurant in Albuquerque.

Petunia is always dragging to me to those places ...

... kicking and screaming all the way.

We have visited a few weird places during the past year ... out here on the road. Here are a few:

The Liberace Museum (a Shrine to Bad Taste) — http://www.liberace.com/museumBrochure.cfm

The Buckhorn and Wildlife Museum in Mesa, AZ ... you really have to go and see this place before they tear it down — http://www.trailergypsies.com/Arizona/Buckhorn.htm

Space Age Outer Limits Restaurant in Gila Bend, AZ — http://www.trailergypsies.com/Arizona/Gila%20Bend.htm

Dick and Jane’s Spot in Ellensburg, WA — http://www.trailergypsies.com/Washin...and%20Jane.htm

The Teapot Dome gas station in Zillah, WA — http://www.aviewofamerica.com/Washin...teapotdome.htm

The Madonna Inn in San Luis Obispo, CA ... check out some of those rooms! Also, the Steak House. — http://www.madonnainn.com/index.asp

Hasn't anyone visited the UCM museum in Abita Springs,
Louisiana?

As I understand it, these aliens crashlanded their saucer into an airstream.

They also have a 26ft Bassigator, kinda like a jackalope on steroids.

I should think, or at least hope, that the Precious Moments Park (http://www.preciousmoments.com/) would stand in a class by itself. Take your Airstream and your insulin to their Cubby Bear (really!) RV park and check it out.

I love those things. I've got a sort of personal collection of them, in photos, somewhere. They were originally produced for gas stations, muffler shops, and other businesses.

They have long since been re-sold and converted to a variety of uses, and so you'll see these fiberglass giants all over the country. Learn how to spot them at this website: http://www.roadsideamerica.com/muffler/types.html

Green Giant

On our first big trip West in 2002 I saw one "stand out".

Somewhere in Minnesota along I-90 my wife pointed across me. "That's the Jolly Green Giant, pull off, pull off". Yup, Erin loves those types of stops!

The link to information on it is:

http://www.roadsideamerica.com/attract/MNBLUjolly.html

It was raining the day we stopped, so no personal photos.

Spam Jam

Not sure if this truly meets your requirments but. On our first trip out west we passed thru Austin Minnasota , the home of SPAM, on the weekend we were going thrught it was SPAM JAM, this is a annual festivel celebrating all things SPAM, as a SPAM fan I was forced to stop and check it out. If it can be made it can be made of SPAM. I think the event takes place every year either on the 4th of july or the weekend before.

Perhaps someone at WBCCI could coordinate the SPAM Jam with the International?
